Kenya strengthens role as Health Innovation Hub at WHX Nairobi 2025

Now in its seventh year, WHX Nairobi and its co-located WHX Labs Nairobi bring together over 8,000 visitors, more than 300 exhibitors, and 65 international speakers from over 20 countries.

KENYA—The WHX Nairobi 2025 event, which opened on October 22 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), marks a major three-day gathering focused on improving patient care and health innovation across East Africa.

This event has established Kenya as a center for health innovation and technology transfer, supported by government efforts to attract investment, generate jobs, and advance universal health coverage (UHC).

Now in its seventh year, WHX Nairobi and its co-located WHX Labs Nairobi bring together over 8,000 visitors, more than 300 exhibitors, and 65 international speakers from over 20 countries.

The event unites global leaders, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and innovators to collaborate and shape the future of healthcare in the region.

Supported by Kenya’s Ministry of Health, Africa CDC, Kenya Healthcare Federation, and the Kenya Medical Association, the expo confirms Kenya’s expanding role as a regional medical and health technology hub.

Participants explore themes including healthcare policy, digital transformation, and primary healthcare, earning up to 15 CPD points through expert sessions and specialized conferences.

WHX Labs Nairobi targets laboratory professionals, offering a platform for diagnostics, microbiology, and genomics to share the latest innovations influencing medical practice.

Two new initiatives launched this year further underline the event’s impact: Women 50/50, a programme promoting gender balance in healthcare leadership through mentorship and training, led by Philana Mugyenyi; and Leaders in Healthcare, the event’s first ministerial roundtable supported by President William Ruto and the Ministry of Health.

This roundtable convenes policymakers, industry leaders, and global stakeholders to accelerate healthcare investment and strategic transformation.

WHX Nairobi also pioneers sustainable event management, using digital badges instead of paper tickets, recycled materials for signage, and advanced recycling programs.

The Sustainable Stand Awards recognize exhibitors who adopt eco-friendly designs, aligned with WHX’s commitment to powering all 15 events with 100% renewable energy.

Government representative Dr. Joel Gondi, speaking on behalf of Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, emphasized that the health-tech ecosystem is central to Kenya’s economic transformation.

He pointed to affordable innovations offering value for money and improving public healthcare facilities.

The conference, organized by Informa Markets under the global World Health Expo banner, focuses on healthcare policy, digital healthcare, and primary healthcare, aiming to drive innovation, investment, and inclusivity in East Africa.

The Nairobi event is expected to generate millions of dollars in new business, building on over US$223,000 in transactions recorded in 2024.

Kenya’s growing network of more than 300 primary healthcare units provides fertile ground for deploying new technologies, aligning with the government’s digital superhighway initiative.

The country’s strategic location and rising healthcare demand underpin its position as a gateway for medical technology investment in Eastern and Central Africa.

Global brands like Beckman Coulter, Snibe Diagnostic, Randox, and Radiometer join regional innovators to showcase cutting-edge solutions that improve access, efficiency, and quality of healthcare.

Attendees, such as business strategist Valerie Rading, praise the conference for offering valuable insights into the future of medical practice through digital health and laboratory innovation.
