KENYA— The esteemed Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) in the Health and Wellness edition.
MIPAD, established in alignment with the United Nations General Assembly resolution 68/237, which proclaims the International Decade for People of African Descent from 2015 to 2024, aims to identify high achievers of African descent in both the public and private sectors.
MIPAD serves as a platform to acknowledge individuals of African descent worldwide, fostering a progressive network of influential figures who contribute to the recognition, justice, and development of Africa and its people, both on the continent and throughout the diaspora.
Kamil Olufowobi, CEO of MIPAD, announced the global list and commended CS Nakhumicha for her outstanding contributions to healthcare in Kenya.
Mr. Olufowobi highlighted the significant strides made by the Kenyan government under CS Nakhumicha’s leadership in enhancing healthcare standards and ensuring quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare for all citizens.
Recognizing CS Nakhumicha’s impact, the Ministry of Health in Kenya emphasized the improvements achieved in areas such as maternal and child health, disease control, and the availability of essential medicines and supplies.
