KUWAIT – Health Assurance Hospitals Company (DHAMAN), the first Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) healthcare organization in the Middle East, has achieved the HIMSS O-EMRAM Stage 6 validation for the use of advanced Information technology (IT) to improve outpatient care.

DHAMAN has received the international accreditation from Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for using TrakCare® unified healthcare information system developed by InterSystems, a creative data technology provider.

InterSystems develops and supports data management in hospitals through the world’s most proven electronic medical record and unified care records for health systems and governments through a robust suite of healthcare data integration solutions.

With the use of InterSystems TrakCare system, DHAMAN benefits from the electronic medical record (EMR) system’s ability to connect its facilities and provide seamless service across its various establishments.

TrakCare with its unified clinical and revenue cycle management capabilities enables DHAMAN’s staff to view the patient clinical, administrative, and financial information at any time, allowing ease of access to streamline the patient experience and hospital operations,” DHAMAN said in a release.

The unified healthcare information system also supports the Health Assurance Hospitals Company to achieve its goal of being the prime provider of quality integrated healthcare services in Kuwait.

By being validated at Stage 6, DHAMAN is clearly demonstrating its ongoing commitment to improving patient safety and the overall quality of clinical care through the effective use and deployment of Electronic Medical Record technology,” outlined the healthcare organization.

Moreover, the significant milestone is in line with DHAMAN’s pursuit of achieving one of Kuwait’s National Development Plan pillars dubbed New Kuwait 2035 aimed at providing the highest quality of healthcare.

The validation was a culmination of a rigorous process based on a review of the healthcare organization’s clinical outcomes, patient engagement and the clinicians’ use of the EMR technology to strengthen organizational performance and health outcomes.

The international benchmark was created by HIMSS Analytics through the EMRAM methodology to evaluate the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals. The HIMSS surveyors commended DHAMAN’s team on five key areas.

The core areas include the focus on patient engagement, physician and nursing documentation, the patient’s consent being captured electronically to avoid paper documents as well as the creation of a health academy as a response to the challenge of nursing resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, the surveyors lauded DHAMAN’s team on the excellent culture of interaction between senior management and staff which heavily contributed to the outstanding results within a year’s time of InterSystems TrakCare implementation.

DHAMAN’s system is in compliance with the standards of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) relevant to the application of digital healthcare industry,” said Eng. Abdullah Al-Najjar, Corporate Director – Information Technology.

He disclosed that the Kuwait-based healthcare organization has an ambitious goal of achieving HIMSS EMRAM highest stage, Stage 7, while noting that these are international standards in the field of information technology to meet the needs of health enterprises.

DHAMAN has taken proactive steps towards activating electronic and information systems in its endeavor to build and sustain a digital healthcare operation that addresses and foresees the future trends of the healthcare industry.” he added.
