USA – Labcorp, a leading global life sciences company, has announced the launch of Getlabs for Labcorp, an innovative health care service that combines Labcorp’s diagnostic tests with Getlabs phlebotomy service to conveniently test consumers in the comfort of their own homes.
Getlabs for Labcorp combines the company’s diagnostics with Getlabs’ phlebotomy service to allow consumers to be tested in the comfort of their own homes, allowing individuals to schedule an at-home blood draw or specimen collection when it is convenient for them.
Appointments are available through Labcorp’s website, according to a news release, while Getlabs offers at-home appointments performed by full-time phlebotomists for a convenience fee starting at US$25.
The offering is available in 50 U.S. markets, covering more than half of the U.S. population, according to Labcorp, based in Burlington, North Carolina.
It complements the company’s nearly 2,000 patient service centers (PSCs)., according to the company.
The service’s goal for Labcorp is to increase testing accessibility and provide consumers with convenient options for test collection.
Individuals can now schedule a home blood draw or specimen collection at a time that is convenient for them using the service.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need to provide more options and convenience to people, including busy professionals and parents, people without easy access to transportation, and people with disabilities, chronic conditions, or who are immunocompromised.
“We want to make it easy for people to manage their health and this collaboration with Getlabs significantly expands Labcorp’s home testing options to include our full range of tests,” Labcorp EVP and Chief Marketing Officer Amy Summy said in the release.
“The blend of easy scheduling online, our full set of tests, and in-person testing makes it simple for individuals who want the convenience of at-home collection but are uncomfortable drawing their own blood or require diagnostic tests beyond those offered through Labcorp’s at-home kits.”
In other recent developments, Labcorp launched on-demand platform for purchasing diagnostics in February this year to ease the experience of using the company’s diagnostics.
Individuals can use OnDemand to purchase tests online, collect samples at home, or schedule appointments at one of Labcorp’s 2,000 patient service centers.
The OnDemand platform includes a suite of the company’s most commonly used tests, including wellness, allergy, COVID-19, women’s health and fertility tests, according to a news release.
Through Labcorp OnDemand, the company’s Pixel by Labcorp COVID-19 PCR and combined COVID-19 + flu at-home collection kits are available and will continue to be available at zero upfront out-of-pocket costs for those who meet clinical guidelines.
Labcorp expects to make additional Labcorp OnDemand test kit options available through existing ordering channels for physicians, health plans, and employers later this year.
