UAE—To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, the globally recognized M42, an Abu Dhabi-based tech-enabled health company, has opened the “Laha Wellness Hub,” a preventative women’s wellness clinic at HealthPlus Family Clinic in Al Bandar, Abu Dhabi.

This specialized clinic, tailored for women aged 35 and above, aims to empower women through a holistic approach to wellness, focusing on preventive care, personalized plans, and educational support that address issues such as menopause and fertility.

M42 has also made the clinic available to its staff as part of a new corporate policy to support female staff through menopause and promote gender equity.

This is consistent with M42’s mission to promote health equality for women by collaborating with groups that empower women, like Aurora50, and to be an advocate for women’s health both locally and internationally.

The Laha Wellness Hub operates on the premise that no two women are the same, and neither is their journey through life and womanhood.

The clinic provides a gateway to comprehensive services across the M42 network that can address the full range of women’s health needs, including perimenopause, menopause management, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure, cardiovascular care, fertility, and more.

The clinic is staffed by a supportive team of dedicated female healthcare professionals, including specialists in women’s health, family medicine, gynecology, physiotherapy, and other holistic solutions.

The clinic will help women track and monitor conditions that may help reduce the severity of the symptoms women often face during this time of their lives, including preventive solutions for fertility issues that are more common for women over 35.

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of M42, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, envisioning  the clinic as a transformative space fostering a community and support network for women.

Suaad Al Hammadi, Group Chief Human Capital Officer at M42, underscored the company’s commitment to prioritizing employees’ health and wellbeing, particularly given that over 60% of their workforce is female.

The new policy aims to empower employees by providing access to preventive solutions offered by the Laha Wellness Hub.

Dr. Neha Gami, an expert in obstetrics and gynaecology at HealthPlus Family Center, on his part, emphasized the clinic’s role in addressing the neglected health needs of women, particularly regarding menopause.

She went on to highlight the importance of prioritizing women’s health and applauded the Laha Wellness Hub for bridging this crucial gap.

The opening of the clinic was warmly embraced by Donna Howarth, Founder of Middle East Menopause Organisation (MEMO), who recognized it as a significant advancement in altering the menopause landscape in the UAE.

She highlighted how the clinic’s range of methods and choices will empower women to make decisions about their health, thus destigmatizing menopause and encouraging open communication.

In the UK, around 80% of menopausal women are employed, according to the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM). Of these, women report symptoms in 75% of cases, with 25% reporting severe symptoms.

Many frequently overlapping and incapacitating symptoms, such as headaches, exhaustion, and negative effects on mental health, including depression and poor self-esteem, can affect women going through menopause.

Among the distinctive features offered by the Laha Wellness Hub are a preventive approach, holistic wellness, customized care plans, and access to state-of-the-art facilities across the M42 network, including Danat Al Emarat Women & Children’s Hospital and the HealthPlus Fertility Center.

Furthermore, it provides its services to citizens of Dubai and the northern Emirates through Mubadala Health Dubai, guaranteeing greater accessibility to high-quality medical treatment.

Through the M42 app, M42 has made scheduling an appointment at the Laha Wellness Hub simple and convenient.

M42 has also implemented a half-day wellness leave policy for all of its workers in an effort to promote their well-being and promote a proactive approach to health.
