INDIA —Manipal Hospitals in India has implemented Isansys Lifecare’s remote patient monitoring system to keep an eye on high-risk and vulnerable patients across the care areas.
The Patient Status Engine (PSE) is a wireless platform that continuously and in real-time captures and analyzes patients’ physiological data such as heart rate, temperature, blood saturation, blood pressure, and ECG.
These data, along with an early warning score, are being transmitted in real-time to a central monitoring station and to the mobile phones of care teams.
The system, which has been approved for use in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, can be implemented in a wide range of healthcare settings and allows providers to quickly establish virtual wards while seamlessly integrating patient data into their EMR.
Manipal Hospitals will use Isansys PSE devices to continuously monitor the conditions of critical patients who have been discharged from the ICU.
It will allow them to determine which patients require ICU admission and which can be managed and treated in wards.
The devices, which are currently installed in hospital wards, will be soon expanded across all units of the healthcare chain.
Manipal’s partnership with isansys’ is the latest in a string of collaborations focused on RPM.
Apollo Hospitals, another large hospital chain in India, recently unveiled an in-patient room automation system, Healthcare IT News highlights.
AutoMaid, developed by Healthnet Global’s health technology unit, is an RPM system with AI-powered triaging that captures vital parameters in real-time.
It also includes motion sensors, a communication pod with touch and voice controls, and mobile access to room services.
Stasis Health, based in the United States, partnered with Medtronic India last year to bring its RPM solution to the country.
The Stasis Monitor consists of a bedside monitor that monitors six vital signs, a tablet, and a cloud-connected app that allows for remote monitoring across devices.
Raziel Health has also collaborated with Baptist Health South Florida to implement its remote patient monitoring (RPM) services and continuous care platform for cardiac care.
The platform will first be used to treat patients suffering from heart failure and complex hypertension. Raziel Health provides home monitoring devices that allow care teams to monitor vital signs and activity data. Several EHRs, including Epic and Cerner, are integrated into the platform.
The importance and value of RPM have been emphasized by the need to keep patients out of hospitals and clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has in turn accelerated the adoption of RPM.
