INDIA – Mayo Clinic has announced the opening of its new patient information office in Mumbai, India for patient appointment services, marking its presence in India.

Following regulatory approvals, the Mumbai-based office will offer professional services support to patients who wish to make appointments at Mayo Clinic locations worldwide.
The new patient information office will also allow healthcare professionals easy access to patient records and they can receive input from other medical professionals operating in different locations.
It is properly staffed with employees who are fluent in Hindi and English to ensure that distance and language are not obstacles to receiving world-class care.
“Interpreters are available at no cost to assist with communication between health care providers and patients whose primary language is not English,” Mayo Clinic stated.
The office staff will help patients, their families, and physicians who refer patients to make appointments at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida as well as Mayo Clinic Healthcare in London.
They will assist with travel, lodging, billing, and insurance arrangements as well as provide a general orientation to Mayo Clinic.
Mayo Clinic outlined that it will accept appointment requests directly from patients and patient referrals from physicians.
The office staff will also conduct Mayo’s review of medical records and coordinate future appointments but they will not provide medical attention.
In a press release, Dr. Mohamad Bydon, Regional Medical Director for Mayo Clinic International and Associate Medical Director for Mayo Clinic Department of Development, said: “Mayo Clinic seeks to serve as a resource for patients and health care providers around the world.”
