INDIA – Medanta Hospitals and GE HealthCare have jointly introduced tele-intensive care unit services at its facilities in India.
Medanta Hospitals is a chain of super specialty and multispeciality hospitals operating in more than 6 cities in India.
The agreement between Medanta and GE HealthCare will facilitate high-level knowledge transfer via the 24×7 Medanta e-ICU Command Centre.
The Medanta e-ICU Command Centre is powered by cutting-edge technology from GE HealthCare that equips both central and bedside medical teams.
It is staffed by Medanta’s dedicated tele-ICU team to meet the growing demand for digital critical care services.
In a press release, Chaitanya Sarawate, President & Chief Executive Officer of GE HealthCare South Asia and Managing Director of Wipro GE Healthcare, said: “In critical patient conditions, accurate diagnosis is vital, and every second matters. The Command Centre, powered by guidance from a super specialty critical care team will help make this possible.”
The Medanta e-ICU Command Centre will serve as a medical-technical platform providing real-time patient monitoring of vital signs for patients.
It will provide healthcare professionals with real-time information about patients’ vital signs around the clock, allowing them to deliver early medical interventions for patient support.
This Command Centre aids direct integration of hospital systems to devices, enabling increased efficiency, greater collaboration, enhanced patient care, and a reduction in the cost of care.
The combination of GE HealthCare’s proven precision technology with the expert clinical knowledge of Medanta Hospitals will empower doctors to make evidence-based decisions.
As a result of this fusion, the decision-making ability of an ICU can bring extraordinary results in clinical outcomes.
Medanta has pledged its commitment to support critical care delivery with the help of a closed super-specialized critical care medicine team at the command center, applying globally accepted best practices.
On his part, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director of Medanta said: “The platform will provide continuous 24×7 advanced consultation, care, and monitoring to critically ill patients without having to physically transfer them to a super-specialty hospital.”
The Medanta e-ICU project has been designed to nurture super specialty-based critical care practices in collaborative efforts to bring quality care to every citizen in India.
This initiative will help expand access to super specialty critical care services for patients and their families and contribute to better patient care and improved outcomes across India.
It builds on Medanta Hospitals’ historic collaboration with GE HealthCare, a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator.
The healthcare service provider has begun rolling out tele-intensive care unit technologies across its hospital network as part of its Medanta e-ICU project.
The Medanta e-ICU project, a joint initiative with GE HealthCare, aims to transform healthcare delivery and address the existing gaps in critical care.
Consequently, this project seeks to address the existing gaps in critical care and improve the overall experience for patients and clinical teams.
It will also help to increase the availability, affordability, and accessibility of round-the-clock, well-qualified on-site intensivist staff for prompt emergency interventions.
Commenting on the partnership with GE HealthCare, Dr. Naresh Trehan said: “Infrastructural gaps in critical care are more pronounced with limited resources in districts and smaller towns. Through this association with GE HealthCare, we aim to offer valuable lifesaving digital/tele-ICU services.”
