GERMANY – Medline, a manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies, has begun negotiations to acquire Medi-Globe Group’s ASID BONZ, a German supplier of surgery, anesthesia, ward supply, and urology products.

ASID BONZ was the first to develop anesthesia, having been founded in 1811. In 2021, ASID BONZ generated over 30 million Euros (US$ 32.75 million) in revenue and served over 1,100 German hospitals.

Medline Europe on the other hand was founded in 2011. Since then, the company has rapidly expanded across the continent, serving customers in 27 European countries and establishing offices, manufacturing, and distribution facilities throughout the continent.

Medline intends to expand the ASID BONZ brand beyond Germany to its large European customer base. Medline’s products will also be available to ASID BONZ’s sales force.

Medi-Globe Group CEO Martin Lehner: “The sale increases Medi-Globe’s focus on the core business – the development and marketing of innovative single-use products for minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.”

The two companies are an excellent strategic fit, as they have similar business models and a reputation for providing excellent customer service.

In the future, Medline will make the ASID BONZ brand available to its large European customer base outside of Germany.

Tripp Amdur, Medline’s Europe group president noted that this acquisition expands Medline’s presence in urology and anesthesia, adding that ASID BONZ’s long and trusted reputation, will allow Medline to better meet the needs of its healthcare customers and become a more valued partner.

The ASID BONZ sales force in Germany will have access to Medline products to strengthen their customer relationships.

The business combination is expected to be completed in May, once merger control approval has been obtained and other closing conditions have been fulfilled.

Separately, Medline has entered into a multi-year US$725 million prime vendor agreement with Mount Sinai Health System in New York to provide an extensive portfolio of essential medical supplies and solutions across the health system’s eight hospital campuses, school of medicine, and ambulatory practices.

Also, Medline and Hologenix, a materials science innovator, entered into partnership of a new line of CURAD brand orthopedic products powered by CELLIANT infrared technology last month.

CELLIANT, Hologenix’s flagship product, is a proprietary blend of natural minerals that enables textiles to convert body heat into infrared energy, which is then returned to the body, temporarily increasing local blood flow and cellular oxygenation.

This helps with muscle recovery, endurance, and overall performance in healthy people, among other things.
