INDIA – Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals has announced that it has merged with Maharsahtra-based eyecare facility, Aditya Jyot Eye hospital.

The merger with Aditya Jyot, a more than three-decade-old facility, will bring Agarwals” total network to 100 hospitals.

It has already announced plans to invest more than US$132 million (Rs 1,000 crore) over the next three years to build 100 new hospitals and 500 vision centers around the world.

“We have a US$132 million (Rs 1,000 crore) expansion plan to increase our footprint pan-India to 200 hospitals in the next three years, along with 500 outreach centres,” Dr Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals, said.

Agarwals Group is currently present in 11 countries and over ten Indian states. Its facilities are staffed by a team of over 400 ophthalmologists and 4,000 employees who have treated over 12 million patients to date.

They provide not only high-quality eye care but also academic and research programs in ophthalmology and related fields.

The chain has been rapidly expanding across the country, with more than 60 new locations added in the last five years alone.

Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital is a four-storey hospital in Wadala, central Mumbai, and the city’s first NABH-accredited eye hospital.

It is one of the few facilities in the city with all specialties of eyecare under one roof, making cross consultation easy and seamless.

Besides, it has state-of-the-art facilities for both basic and advanced diagnostic tests and surgeries. Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital has consistently been recognized as one of Mumbai’s most trusted eyecare hospitals.

Amar Agarwal, Chairman of Agarwals Group, stated, “Aditya Jyot Hospital’s merger with our chain is just the beginning for Maharashtra. In the next three years, we intend to invest more than US$39.8 million (Rs 300 crore) in Maharashtra to establish 20 eye hospitals and over 100 outreach clinics across the state.”

On board is Prof. Dr. S. Natarajan, a third-generation ophthalmologist, regarded as a world expert in Vitreo Retinal Surgery. He will now serve as the Chief of Vitreo Retina Services at Dr. Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals.

He has personally performed over 60,000 retina surgeries and has trained more than 60 retina surgeons worldwide. He is a charter member of the American Society of Retina Specialists’ Retina Hall of Fame and is credited with introducing pioneering technology and innovation in vitreo-retinal.
