INDIA – Goa-based diagnostics chain Molbio Diagnostics has bought a 70 percent stake in Prognosys Medical Systems, a market leader in digital radiology and imaging equipment.
The acquisition of Prognosys Medical Systems will allow Molbio Diagnostics to expand its regional presence in specialized diagnostics.
The collaboration aligns with Molbio’s commitment to bringing a wide range of cost-effective, high-quality point-of-care solutions for hospitals and clinical laboratories.
“The majority acquisition of Prognosys Medical Systems Private Limited is yet another step in this direction and helps us expand our Universal Access portfolio,” Sriram Natarajan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Founder, and Director of Molbio Diagnostics, said in a statement.
The strategic deal will also build on the ongoing collaboration between Molbio and Prognosys to enhance healthcare service delivery to residents across India.
Molbio is working closely with Prognosys to create mobile solutions for end-to-end screening and diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and E-Clinics for delivering comprehensive health care to the last mile.
Prognosys designs, builds, and deploys indigenously manufactured medical imaging equipment and it has notably committed to delivering quality solutions at affordable prices to its customers.
“Its business operations range from high-frequency x-ray, digital radiography system, c-arm, tele-radiology, telemedicine, home health, and m-health solutions and accessories like automatic film processors,” the Bengaluru-based manufacturer says.
The company’s PRORAD builds radiology and fluoroscopy solutions, including design, testing, and assembly zones at its manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India.
The latest acquisition will facilitate the combination of PRORAD and Molbio Diagnostics’ multi-disease diagnostics platform to enhance care for all patients across India and worldwide.
“The combination of PRORAD and Truenat system offers a game-changing solution for screening and confirming large populations for highly contagious and devastating diseases,” Molbio said in a release.
Recently, Prognosys launched the first made-in-India unique PRORAD Portable and Ultra-Portable digital x-ray units leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver high-quality chest images.
“This technology will be offered alongside Molbio’s patented Truenat technology, a point-of-care, portable, battery-operated Real-Time PCR platform that can screen over 40 diseases with a sample-to-result time of 60 minutes,” the company stated.
The combination of PRORAD and Truenat system will pave the way for the transformation of the healthcare industry particularly in the detection, screening, and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
