KENYA—The Kenya Pharma & Health International Expo 2025 took place from April 10 to 12 at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi.
With over 140 exhibitors, the event showcased the latest advancements in pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and healthcare solutions.
It served as a vibrant platform for industry professionals to engage in transformative discussions, spark innovation, and forge valuable connections that will shape the future of healthcare in East Africa.
The opening ceremony featured esteemed figures from various sectors.
Notable guests included Shri Shushil Prasad, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Kenya; Mr. Digvijay Singh, CEO of ETSIPL; Dr. Brian Lishenga, Chairman of RUPHA; Dr. Gakombe Kanyenje, Chairman of the Kenya Healthcare Federation; Mr. Moses Mokua from the Christian Healthcare Associations of Kenya (CHAK); and Mr. Julias Kitheka, General Manager of Liason Group.
Their presence highlighted the importance of collaboration in promoting healthcare innovation and policy development.
The expo underscored Kenya’s crucial role as a leading force in pharmaceutical manufacturing within East Africa.
The country is home to the region’s largest pharmaceutical industry and a rapidly growing medical device market, which is projected to reach US$197.9 million by 2026.
These factors present significant opportunities for investment and partnerships.
Running concurrently with the expo was the RUPHA Annual Conference & MedExpo 2025, now in its sixth edition, which stands as Kenya’s largest gathering of hospitals and healthcare professionals.
The conference attracted over 1,000 attendees and 140 exhibitors from prominent brands across Kenya, India, Germany, the UAE, Finland, Uganda, and Algeria.
Participants took part in two days of insightful discussions during the Healthcare Mjadala sessions and various skills workshops.
Dr. James Nyikal, MP for Seme Constituency and Chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee, delivered a keynote address titled “Driving Universal Health Coverage: Aligning Policy and Practice in Kenya’s Health Reforms,” which set the stage for meaningful policy dialogue.
On the second day, H.E. Dr. Irungu Kang’ata, Governor of Murang’a County, introduced innovative approaches to managing chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through telemedicine.
His county’s adoption of the Afya Kenya telemedicine platform has revolutionized healthcare delivery for over 20,000 residents, significantly reducing care defaults, travel costs, and long hospital queues.
Governor Kang’ata also highlighted complementary initiatives, such as digitizing medical records, solarizing healthcare facilities, and enhancing internet infrastructure—efforts that are driving advancements across Kenya’s health sector.
Alongside RUPHA’s contributions to private hospital networks, these developments demonstrate Kenya’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access and efficiency.
Overall, the expo effectively showcased groundbreaking technologies while fostering collaboration and innovation among stakeholders dedicated to transforming healthcare in East Africa.
