Nephrocare India to expand its geographic reach with the launch of 22 centers

INDIA – Nephrocare India Pvt. Ltd has unveiled plans to vastly expand its geographic reach by launching 22 comprehensive kidney care centres in the South Asian country.

Nephrocare Health Services Pvt Ltd operates a chain of dialysis and kidney care clinics across India under the Nephroplus brand.

Established by Nephrologist Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Nephrocare India is one of the most esteemed healthcare institutions focused on caring for the most intensive kidney disease patients.

In an interview with the Financial Express (India), key company officials shared their perspectives on Nephrocare India’s pioneering move to increase access to comprehensive nephrology services.

To fund the expansion project, Nephrocare India plans to invest approximately US$8,395,275 (nearly Rs 70 crores) in ramping up the initial 22 centres by March 2026,” company officials told the Financial Express.

The executives, Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder of Nephrocare India, and Somnath Chakraborty, Chief Executive Officer of Nephrocare India, highlighted the alarming gap between the demand and supply of kidney care units in India.

Underlining the need for comprehensive services, the company officials explained; “There is a lack of proper infrastructure and access to specialised renal care clinics.

Nephrocare India has pledged to invest approximately US$8,395,275 (nearly Rs 70 crores) to build new ultramodern centers totalling 22 sites throughout the Republic of India.

The total investment plan is over US$8.4 million in India, which will be used in the construction of kidney care centres throughout the country.

To raise funds for expansion, Nephrocare India is exploring fundraising options, including a potential initial public offering (IPO),” company officials told the Financial Express.

The company officials pointed out that India, being the diabetes capital of the world, has the highest number of prevalent kidney disease patients.

The representatives further said that Nephrocare India envisions a long-term goal of reaching to out around one million chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in the next decade.

This development is part of the company’s long-term growth strategy, which aims to increase its market share and profitability.

As part of its expansion plan, the company is gearing up to launch a new kidney care centre in Raipur by March 2024.

Nephrocare India plans to not only expand its countrywide network of comprehensive kidney care centers by March 2026, which currently stands at 4, but also to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure.

Commenting on this expansion, Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder of Nephrocare India, stated: “We have a vision to reach out to one million patients suffering from chronic kidney disease by setting up 300 such centres across the country in the next 10-15 years.”

It is worth highlighting that Nephrocare India has planned comprehensive kidney care centres in Shyambazar and Chandannagar in the Kolkata area, in addition to centers in northern West Bengal.

The planned facilities aim to provide holistic care, with a focus on diagnostics, modern dialysis units, critical renal patient care, lifestyle-oriented yoga, nutritional care departments, and patient-centric IT solutions.

Nephrocare India is increasing its dominance of the kidney care market share as India’s dialysis market is poised to grow from US$2.113 billion in 2022 to US$4.368 billion by 2030, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5 percent.

The surge in demand for dialysis services in India continues amid heightened awareness of the benefits of dialysis treatment, the increasing prevalence of CKD, and a growing geriatric population.
