USA – Olympus, a global medical technology company, made a groundbreaking announcement with the launch of two state-of-the-art bronchoscopes, seamlessly integrated into the EVIS X1 Endoscopy System.

This latest innovation from Olympus promises to redefine diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, offering physicians unparalleled capabilities for enhanced patient care.

These cutting-edge bronchoscopes, set to be showcased at the annual American Thoracic Society (ATS) meeting in San Diego from May 17-22, represent a significant leap forward in medical imaging technology.

Equipped with high-definition imaging, they boast a slender outer diameter compared to their predecessors, granting physicians unprecedented access to distal airways.

Enhanced suction power and flexibility, coupled with large working channels, empower physicians to navigate the tracheobronchial tree with precision and ease.

“The EVIS X1 endoscopy system is Olympus’ most advanced endoscopy system, offering a series of imaging technologies,” says Swarna Alcorn, Business Unit Vice President, Respiratory, Olympus Corp. of the Americas.

“With the launch of diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopes supported by our most advanced endoscopy system, pulmonologists will have the confidence to expand their reach with bronchoscopes that combine a slim outer diameter, a large working channel and improved imaging.”

The diagnostic bronchoscope, BF-H1100, features a large 2.2mm working channel, offering an 11% increase in suction capability, while its therapeutic counterpart, the BF-1TH1100, boasts a 3.0mm working channel, enabling a 29% increase in suction and the passage of a wide array of endotherapy devices.

Both bronchoscopes are designed for ease of handling, with a slim outer diameter and a redesigned image sensor that maintains HDTV resolution.

Furthermore, Olympus’ EVIS X1 endoscopy system integrates a range of imaging technologies, including Brightness Adjustment Imaging with Maintenance of Contrast (BAI-MAC™) technology, Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging (TXI™) technology, Red Dichromatic Imaging (RDI™) technology, and Narrow Band Imaging™ (NBI™) technology.

These innovations offer physicians unprecedented clarity and precision during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, enhancing the overall quality of patient care.

“As a global medical technology company, we partner with healthcare professionals to provide solutions and services for early detection, diagnosis, and minimally invasive treatment,” emphasizes Olympus. “Our commitment to elevating the standard of care in targeted disease states remains unwavering.”
