Ontada partners with Datavant to accelerate oncology insights for cancer research

USA—Ontada, a McKesson business and a leader in real-world oncology data, clinical education, and point-of-care technologies, has entered into a strategic partnership with Datavant, a health data platform, to enhance access to critical oncology insights.

This collaboration is designed to help researchers and life science companies quickly tap into Ontada’s valuable real-world data, ultimately driving innovation in cancer care and improving patient outcomes.

This partnership builds on Ontada’s recent collaboration with Microsoft in October, where the companies used artificial intelligence to transform large volumes of unstructured healthcare data into actionable insights.

Together, Ontada and Datavant aim to provide a comprehensive and efficient solution for accessing oncology data, enabling faster discovery of crucial insights in cancer research and treatment.

Ontada’s proprietary database is powered by The US Oncology Network (The Network), which treats one in five cancer patients in the United States.

The Network specializes in community settings, where 85% of cancer patients are treated, offering a unique perspective on community cancer care.

Through this collaboration, Datavant’s platform will provide secure, tokenized access to Ontada’s vast database, allowing researchers to extract valuable clinical data more effectively.

Ontada’s real-world data spans more than 80 tumor types and includes insights from over 2.4 million patients.

This extensive database provides a unique view of cancer care in community settings, offering invaluable information that can help drive oncology innovation.

The partnership combines Datavant’s powerful data platform with Ontada’s comprehensive data, aiming to empower researchers to maximize the potential of their data and gain deeper insights into cancer care.

Amy O’Sullivan, Senior Vice President and Chief Research Officer at Ontada, emphasized the growing importance of real-world data in oncology.

As the volume of data continues to increase, she noted that evaluating new data sources can be time-consuming.

With this collaboration, Ontada and Datavant aim to provide Life Sciences partners with a faster way to identify the right data sources that can support their efforts to transform cancer treatment.

Arnaub Chatterjee, President and General Manager of Life Sciences, Ecosystem, and Public Sector at Datavant, also expressed his excitement about the partnership.

He highlighted the urgency of providing quicker access to new treatments for cancer patients.

Chatterjee believes the partnership will accelerate oncology health economics and outcomes research, bringing life-altering cancer therapies to patients faster.
