Organon partners with Egyptian Drug Authority to enhance family planning services

EGYPT—Organon, a global healthcare company focused on advancing women’s health, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to improve family planning services in Egypt.

This partnership follows the recent Global Congress on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC’24) held in Egypt and underscores the shared commitment to enhancing women’s health nationwide.

The MOU was signed by Tarek Abou ElEinein, Organon Egypt & Levant Country Lead, and Dr. Rasha Ziada, Assistant to the EDA Chairman for Professional Development and Capacity Building.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, highlighting the importance of this collaboration.

Under the agreement, the focus will be on training community pharmacists across Egypt. These pharmacists will play a vital role in raising awareness about family planning while offering effective counseling services to the community.

The initiative aligns closely with the Egyptian government’s recent efforts to invest in human capital development, which aims to improve population health and overall well-being.

Organon plans to deliver both in-person and live online training sessions for pharmacists, supported by comprehensive materials for pre- and post-training.

This well-structured program is set to begin later this year and aims to ensure pharmacists are well-prepared to assist women in making informed decisions about their reproductive health.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Tarek Abou ElEinein stated that partnering with the EDA is crucial for equipping pharmacists with the skills and tools needed to serve the public effectively.

He emphasized that this initiative not only enhances pharmacists’ knowledge but also contributes to a healthier society by empowering women to access safe and reliable family planning options.

The EDA echoed this sentiment, affirming its commitment to working with private-sector partners to improve healthcare services.

By enhancing the capabilities of pharmacists, the agreement supports the government’s mission to raise public awareness about family planning and deliver integrated healthcare services to citizens.

This partnership builds on Organon’s ongoing efforts to address women’s health challenges in Egypt.

Over the past three years, the company has worked closely with the Egyptian government to advance family planning priorities and empower women.

The MOU represents an extension of these efforts, aiming to make a tangible impact on the lives of Egyptian women and their families.

Organon’s approach involves uniting with various stakeholders to improve healthcare standards, ensuring a healthier future for women across Egypt.
