KENYA – Penda Health, a network of high-quality, affordable medical centres, has launched a new medical cover for employees.

“Excited to introduce to you an employee health cover that will save your company both time and money in your current operations by accessing unlimited healthcare services on an annual basis,” Penda Health said in a statement.

For a single annual payment per employee, some of the plan highlights include: Employees get healthcare from any of our Penda Medical Centres, with no additional fees: No co-pays, no lab costs and no drugs costs, access care in 19 Medical Centres around Nairobi, Kiambu & Kajiado counties and 24/7 telemedicine service.

Upon signing, each of the employees will receive a personalized call from its Telemedicine team welcoming them to the service.

Any time the employees need medical care, they can contact the telemedicine team by phone or WhatsApp 24/7.

“No more worrying about your staff, overspending their limit for the year – rest easy knowing that primary care services are fully covered,” the statement said.

The medical cover caters for laboratory tests, imaging, prescription or over-the-counter drugs, 24hr access to its Medical Centres in strategic locations, clinical consultation services and antenatal care for pregnant mothers

It also covers diagnosis of common ailments, first aid guidance, pre-visit advice and assistance if coming for a physical visit, follow-on advice services as prescribed by the medical providers, stitching and dressing.

Full KEPI immunization schedule, voluntary counselling and testing – HIV/AIDS, family planning services (pills and injections), two ultrasounds for pregnant mothers and benefits guide during ANC care are also covered.

In line with industry standards and cost reduction, Penda will offer a comprehensive range of high-quality medications. Original brands are available for an additional out-of-pocket price.

The comprehensive list of high-quality brands will be shared in a separate sheet. This will be based on market availability and patient feedback.

For patients who access Pigia Penda – Penda’s on-demand Telemedicine service – drug delivery within 2 hours can be arranged for a service charge of KSH199 per delivery within Nairobi (there is no additional fee for the drugs).

In case a company needs to add preventive services for their employees there is an out-of-pocket payment. These services include ultrasound (other than ANC ultrasound), dental care, Lancet Lab tests, specialist doctor consultations, private & travel vaccines, weight management services, including nutrition counselling, supplements such as vitamins and mental health care.

“So excited to have this product out in the world. Get in touch if you need a solution for your company this year,” said  Stephanie Koczela, Co-Founder and CEO of Penda Health.
