NETHERLANDS—Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, has appointed two new executives to its leadership team.

Effective January 1, 2025, Jie Xue will take on the role of Chief Business Leader for Precision Diagnosis, and Özlem Fidanci will become the Chief of the International Region.

Both women will join the Executive Committee and report directly to Roy Jakobs, CEO of Philips.

Jie Xue, a seasoned healthcare professional, joins Philips from GE Healthcare, where she worked for over 25 years.

She has held several key leadership roles, most recently as President and CEO of Global Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging.

With a wealth of experience, particularly in the U.S., she is known for her ability to develop and execute successful strategies in medical imaging, delivering consistent growth.

As the new leader of Precision Diagnosis, Xue takes over from Bert van Meurs, who temporarily led the business and will now focus on Philips’ Image Guided Therapy business.

Together, Xue and van Meurs will lead the Diagnosis & Treatment segment, combining their expertise to drive innovation and enhance patient care.

Özlem Fidanci, a Turkish national, brings a wealth of experience in healthcare and consumer domains to her new role.

She joins Philips from Versuni, where she held senior positions. Prior to that, Fidanci spent 22 years at Philips, taking on various roles such as Health Systems Leader and Market Leader for the Middle East & Türkiye.

She has a strong track record of delivering growth in both mature and emerging markets, working closely with customers and governments.

Fidanci succeeds Edwin Paalvast, who is retiring after five years with the company and an impressive 35-year career.

Philips CEO Roy Jakobs expressed his confidence in the new appointments, highlighting Xue’s proven leadership in the medtech sector and her focus on developing people and achieving results.

He also praised Fidanci’s extensive experience in both consumer and medtech industries, noting her ability to drive growth and build high-performing teams.

Jakobs added that the appointments strengthen Philips’ leadership team and will help the company realize its vision of providing better care for more people.

In closing, Jakobs thanked Paalvast for his leadership and numerous contributions during his tenure and wished him the best in his retirement.

He also expressed his gratitude to Bert van Meurs for his leadership of Precision Diagnosis and looks forward to his continued contributions as an Executive Committee member.
