Philips partners with Siloam Hospitals to advance AI in Healthcare in Indonesia

INDONESIA—Royal Philips, a prominent global leader in health technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siloam Hospitals Group, Indonesia’s largest private healthcare provider, to improve artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in the country’s healthcare sector.

This strategic collaboration, which also involves a partnership with the Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Medical Sciences Group, will focus on capacity development, information sharing, and the implementation of advanced AI solutions.

The cooperation intends to redefine clinical care and digital health services by using Philips’ cutting-edge AI solutions, improve healthcare delivery, and make healthcare infrastructure more sustainable.

This effort is closely aligned with the Indonesian government’s healthcare plan, which focusses on boosting access, improving clinical outcomes, and embracing digital transformation of health services.

This collaboration will primarily focus on integrating AI-driven clinical care within Siloam Hospitals. Philips intends to use powerful AI technology in crucial areas such as radiology, pathology, interventional cardiology, and clinical operations.

AI will enable healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat patients more effectively by improving clinical decision-making and optimising workflows, while also expanding the system’s capacity to accommodate a rising number of patients.

Furthermore, the MoU emphasises the significance of establishing local competence in AI and digital health through partnership with the UPH Medical Sciences Group.

This initiative will involve extensive training programs aimed at providing healthcare professionals, IT specialists, and UPH students with the skills needed to create and apply artificial intelligence technology effectively in clinical settings.

In addition to capacity building, the MoU fosters global knowledge sharing. As a leader in healthcare informatics and AI, Philips will provide Siloam Hospitals and UPH with its expertise and global best practices.

The collaboration aims to align with Philips’ research and global healthcare strategies to create scalable solutions tailored to the specific needs of Indonesia’s healthcare system.

Furthermore, the MoU supports the digital transformation of health services in Indonesia. Siloam Hospitals will integrate AI into various healthcare management systems, including telemedicine, electronic medical records, and remote patient monitoring, which is in line with the country’s digital health strategy.

The application of AI in these areas is expected to enhance patient outcomes, optimize hospital operations, increase service capacity, and deliver personalized, data-driven care even in remote regions.

The partnership also aims to support the Indonesian government’s healthcare goals, reflecting a commitment to improving accessibility and quality of care.

Additionally, the collaboration will facilitate the sharing of expertise to advance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives within healthcare.

Philips will assist Siloam Hospitals in achieving its ESG strategic priorities, focusing on sustainability in the supply chain, environmental stewardship, equitable workplaces, and enhanced access to healthcare education.

Commenting on this partnership, Caroline Riady, Deputy President Director of Siloam Hospitals Group, remarked that the collaboration represents a significant milestone in introducing advanced healthcare technologies to Indonesia.

By investing in AI capabilities and sharing global expertise, they aim to create a smarter, more efficient healthcare system that will benefit millions of Indonesians and support national healthcare initiatives.

Echoing her sentiments, Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, stated that informatics and AI are poised to transform healthcare by optimizing workflows and improving efficiency.

This will ultimately make healthcare more accessible and provide superior care for a larger population.

He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Siloam Hospitals and UPH to drive this transformation and support the Indonesian government’s vision of enhancing healthcare through digital innovation.

Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, concluded by stating that the future of healthcare is undeniably digital through highlighting AI’s critical role in revolutionizing care delivery.

She praised the partnership between Philips and Siloam Hospitals as an exemplary collaboration, ensuring Indonesia can build local capabilities while harnessing global advancements in AI technology for future economic development and sustainability.
