Prime Healthcare Group snaps up radiology equipment from Varian

UAE – Prime Healthcare Group and Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, have joined forces to advance cancer treatment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The partnership will further build on the long-standing collaboration between Prime Healthcare Group and Siemens Healthineers in the region.

The joint statement said: “The foundation for this extended partnership is the existing relationship between Prime Healthcare Group and Siemens Healthineers, which entails the equipment and servicing of the radiology department of Prime Healthcare Group facilities in Dubai.”

Through the recent strategic deal, Prime Healthcare Group has acquired advanced cancer treatment technology from Varian including a Truebeam radiotherapy system and a Bravos afterloader system.

The Dubai-based medical care prover plans to deploy the radiology equipment to the upcoming Marie Curie Cancer Institute (MCCI), ultimately paving the way for intelligent cancer care.

MCCI is expected to provide a comprehensive cancer care system including medical oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology that will benefit patients throughout their journeys.

The Marie Curie Cancer Institute will be an integral part of Prime Healthcare Group’s 450-million Dirham multi-specialty hospital, coming up in Dubai’s Healthcare City district,” the group said.

In December 2022, Prime Healthcare begun constructing a 33,000m2 specialty hospital at Dubai Healthcare City in the United Arab Emirates.

Three centres of excellence namely the Marie Curie Cancer Centre, Heart Care Center of Excellence, and the Lung Care Centre of Excellence will be housed in the hospital.

Moreover, Prime Healthcare Group and Varian will work closely to support the entire cancer care pathway at MCCI ranging from screening to survivorship.

The partnership will encourage further collaborations between healthcare stakeholders to accelerate patient impact and transform oncology.

In her address, Laurent Amiel, President of Radiation Oncology Solutions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa region (EMEA) at Varian, said: “As the cancer burden continues to rise, we are proud to work with Prime Hospital to expand access to high-quality cancer care.”

She pointed out that Siemens Healthineers, Prime Healthcare Group, and Varian will have a significant opportunity to improve the care experience for patients and clinicians alike.

We look forward to extending our reach and advancing our mission to create a world without fear of cancer,” President Amiel added.
