PureHealth, Khalifa University, Illumina, M42, IHLAD, and NYUAD partner with DoH for precision medicine advancement

UAE—The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in collaboration with leading partners including PureHealth, Khalifa University (KU), Illumina, M42, the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD), and New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance precision medicine and innovative therapies.

 This agreement was formalized during the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025 (ADGHW) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as H.E. Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH; H.E. Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; and H.E. Badr Al Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office.

Key signatories included H.E. Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH; Rashed Saif Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Corporate Officer of PureHealth; Professor Bayan Sharif, Provost of KU; Jacob Thaysen, CEO of Illumina; Fabio Piano, Vice Chancellor of NYUAD; Dr. Fahed Al Marzooqi, CEO at M42; and Dr. Nicole Sirotin, CEO of IHLAD.

Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director of the Health Life Sciences Sector at Doh, emphasised that Abu Dhabi is establishing itself as a global hub for life sciences by leveraging technology, genomics, and advanced therapies to develop a future-ready healthcare model.

Precision medicine represents a transformative shift from generalized care to highly personalized and preventive approaches.

This collaboration aims to establish genomic infrastructure and population health programs tailored to Emirati and regional needs.

It will also drive research in advanced therapies such as gene and cell-based treatments while integrating precision medicine into clinical practice through pharmacogenomics and genome testing.

Additionally, the partnership focuses on developing AI-powered platforms for genomic data analysis and personalized care while fostering local expertise through education and training programs.

Rashed Saif Al Qubaisi of PureHealth expressed pride in contributing to this initiative, highlighting its role in accelerating the integration of genomics and AI into healthcare for predictive and preventive treatments.

Professor Bayan Sharif from KU noted that this partnership aligns with their mission to generate impactful knowledge and build a robust ecosystem for genomics and advanced therapeutics in the UAE.

Dr. Fahed Al Marzooqi from M42 underlined their commitment to advancing precision healthcare by integrating innovation in genomics and AI.

Jacob Thaysen of Illumina stressed the potential of genomic technology to revolutionize patient care through precision medicine.

Fabio Piano from NYUAD reiterated their dedication to tackling complex health challenges through collaborative genomic research.

Dr. Nicole Sirotin from IHLAD highlighted their facility’s focus on longevity medicine through advanced diagnostics and personalised lifestyle interventions, aiming to set global standards in healthy ageing.

This agreement aligns with DoH’s vision to create an intelligent healthcare system powered by genomic science, AI insights, and innovation across critical areas such as oncology, rare genetic diseases, and metabolic disorders.

The MoU was signed during ADGHW 2025, a major platform dedicated to redefining health under the theme “Towards Longevity: Redefining Health and Well-being.”

The event brought together over 15,000 participants to discuss key themes like precision health, digital health innovations, health systems resilience, and life sciences investment.
