QATAR – The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is gearing up to host the 5th Global Conference on Primary Health Care — Qatar 2023.

This year’s Global Conference on Primary Health Care will begin on Thursday, November 9, and end on Sunday, November 12.

The three-day conference will be held under the slogan “Primary Care Today: Lessons Learned and Future Action to Achieve Sustainability”.

In a press release, the Primary Health Care Corporation said: “Participants at the conference will have the opportunity to obtain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.”

The Global Conference on Primary Health Care is considered to be one of the most prestigious medical gatherings in the Middle East. It aims to provide a platform that supports intellectual creativity and exchange experiences in the field of primary health care.

According to the World Health Organization, primary health care is a whole-of-society approach to health that aims at ensuring the highest possible level of health and well-being and their equitable distribution.

Primary health care interventions focus on people’s needs as early as possible along the continuum, including health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care, and as close as feasible to people’s everyday environment.

Led by the PHCC, the Global Conference on Primary Health Care — Qatar 2023 is projected to gather nearly 1,000 attendees from various participating countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and GCC countries.

The conference will bring together key leaders, researchers, influential policymakers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders in the primary care practice under one roof.

Speaking on the importance of the upcoming conference, Managing Director of PHCC, Dr. Mariam Ali Abdulmalik said: “Hosting the conference in Qatar will bring together an impressive and diverse elite of experts, with the aim of cooperation and sharing experiences, ideas, and visions that encourage development in the field of primary health care.”

It will feature six dedicated workshops, and 33 insightful sessions that comprehensively cover key topics on comprehensive primary health care.

Participants are expected to share their invaluable expertise, as well as exchange experiences and best medical practices in the field of primary care.

The event also offers a chance for regional and international attendees to engage on how to monitor and combat infectious diseases, as well as test and manage mental health.

Commenting on these primary care issues, Dr. Abdulmalik stated: “Topics discussed in the conference will cover several areas like health promotion, the resilience of health care in the face of global crises, developments in clinical practices, quality improvement, capacity building, and artificial intelligence innovations.”

Dr. Mariam Ali Abdulmalik reaffirmed to attendees that the event’s organising committees worked hard in preparation for this event to ensure the highest standards of hospitality and organisation are met and would best reflect Qatar’s reputation.

Moreover, participants will have an excellent opportunity to learn about the applications of scientific advancements in the field of health education and research and models of care and innovations.

They will also explore ways to improve health and well-being through lifestyle medicine, a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions.

According to the Primary Health Care Corporation, specialists and experts can participate in the conference by submitting their scientific research abstracts through the PHCC portal; iphcc2023.phcc.gov.qa
