UAE – RAK Hospital is rolling out a 3-month-long health challenge, titled RAK Diabetes Challenge 2023, to increase the engagement of residents in the management of diabetes.

RAK Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention-RAK Representative Office (MOHAP-RAK), aims to highlight the importance of community engagement in the prevention and control of diabetes.

In a press release, Dr. Raza Siddiqui, Executive Director of RAK Hospital, asserted: “Our campaign is meticulously crafted to enlighten people about the complexities of diabetes and guide them towards reduced reliance on medication through the dissemination of accurate information and advocating a healthier lifestyle.”

The main objective of the RAK Diabetes Challenge 2023 is to enhance the quality of life for individuals, communities, and society by championing the national agenda of quality health and healthcare.

RAK Diabetes Challenge 2023 will feature wellness programs, contests, interventions, and activities designed to empower participants to take control of their health and well-being.

As part of this challenge, RAK Hospital is offering tailored diabetes management plans along with personalized advice on nutrition, physical fitness, sleep, stress management, and judicious medicine usage.

It will play a significant role in highlighting the significance of dietary adjustments and regular exercise in effectively managing diabetes, and even helping to prevent individuals in the pre-diabetic phase from advancing to full-blown diabetes.

Through this transformative 3-month-long initiative, RAK Hospital continues the legacy of fostering, guiding, and empowering the community in embracing crucial lifestyle changes.

Registration for this impactful contest commences on 14th August 2023 and will be open for 6 days until 20th August 2023.

Submissions were open for UAE residents to compete in three categories, including physical, virtual, and corporate.

Culminating on World Diabetes Day, 14th November 2023, the challenge expects over 5000 participants from across the United Arab Emirates.

Regardless of their Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, all participants will receive valuable health tips and have the opportunity to participate in weekly webinars focusing on diabetes management.

This 3-month-long initiative is anticipated to build on the resounding success of last year’s RAK Diabetes Challenge, which demonstrated the potential of lifestyle modifications in remitting diabetes.

RAK Diabetes Challenge 2022 witnessed active participation from over 5000 individuals across various Emirates united in fighting against diabetes in the region.

Commending the unquestionable impact of the 2022 Diabetes Challenge, Dr. Raza Siddiqui said: “The remarkable outcome of the challenge revealed that nearly 100% of the participants who completed it experienced a significant reduction in their HbA1c levels.”

Dr. Raza Siddiqui stated that last year’s challenge was an opportunity for UAE residents who volunteered to take the Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test for diabetes and monitor their overall health, noting that they transitioned from a diabetic status (7.49%) to a non-diabetic state (5.07%).

Through RAK Diabetes Challenge 2023, we once again aim to empower individuals on their journey to improved health by imparting essential knowledge and awareness regarding healthy lifestyle practices,” underscored Dr. Raza Siddiqui.
