EGYPT—Reliance Health, a digital healthcare provider focused on emerging markets, recently conducted a survey on Egypt’s healthcare system.
The survey emphasizes the critical role of technology in modernizing business health plans.
The research, in collaboration with Kantar, highlights employees’ evolving expectations and the challenges companies face in managing healthcare benefits.
The survey results reveal that 97% of corporate decision-makers, including CEOs and HR leaders, regard health insurance as essential, indicating a strong demand for comprehensive health plans.
Mazen Mostafa, Director of Reliance Care Center, stated, “Business health plans are invaluable. As the next generation of healthcare, Reliance Health is combining global medical and technological expertise to address people’s real needs.”
He noted that employees’ and companies’ requirements have shifted significantly, emphasizing the importance of coverage extent, ease of use, and cost efficiency—factors heavily influenced by advanced technology adoption.
The survey also pointed out that while Egypt’s health insurance market has seen a notable increase in private providers, the improvements have yet to translate into enhanced business health plans.
Over the past five years, the introduction of new benefits for employees has only risen by 13%.
“This leaves a serious gap that Reliance Health is bridging via harnessing technological advancements,” Mostafa explained.
Decision-makers reported several challenges in managing business health plans. Key issues included difficulties in reaching customer service, with 24% of respondents citing this as a problem and 33% highlighting long approval waiting times and unclear communication as significant barriers.
The post-pandemic landscape has further accelerated the demand for mobile applications, telemedicine options, remote healthcare services, and broader provider networks.
Nearly 83% of respondents preferred telemedicine services, while 13% noted the lack of a mobile application as a significant drawback.
Additionally, 14% reported challenges in receiving medication due to an uncoordinated delivery system.
Mostafa remarked, “Egypt is a digitally fluent country. With 96% of internet users accessing the web via smartphones, the integration of tech in providing business health plans is now vital.”
He added that Reliance Health is committed to adopting the latest technologies to enhance communication and transparency, empowering teams to understand their health plans better.
The company’s mobile app facilitates easy policies and claims management and allows for swift customer service access, appointment bookings, and health metric tracking.
Reliance Health’s telemedicine services provide on-demand consultations and treatments, effectively reshaping the delivery of business healthcare.
“Our broader and more inclusive view of health is at the heart of our commitment,” Mostafa continued. “We offer the most comprehensive plans covering chronic illnesses, dental and optical care, physical therapy, and maternity.
‘’This is also why we prioritize preventative care, ensuring our plans feature wellness programs, regular health screenings, and lifestyle management services.”
The findings call for reevaluating existing systems and a push toward innovative solutions to bridge the current healthcare provision gaps.
