NETHERLANDS– Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology has appointed Roy Jakobs as the new President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Company’s Supervisory Board has unanimously decided to recommend Roy Jakobs following a thorough review of both external and internal candidates.

The current CEO Frans van Houten has concurred that it is time for a leadership change since his third term is about to come to an end.

Roy Jakobs will be named president and CEO, effective October 15, 2022, during an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of shareholders on September 30, 2022.

Frans van Houten will facilitate the transition as the company’s advisor from now until April 30, 2023.

At this crucial point in the company’s growth trajectory, Roy Jakobs has brought a strong international, operational, and transformational track record together with a deep grasp of Philips.

He has successfully turned around businesses in customer-focused growth organizations and strengthened the company’s Connected Care portfolio.

Feike Sijbesma, chairman of the Royal Philips Supervisory Board, said, “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to congratulate Frans for his revolutionary leadership of Philips over the last almost 12 years.

She added that he effectively led the company’s transformation from a diversified industrial conglomerate into a focused, global solutions leader in health technology.

Frans repositioned Philips to considerably improve the company’s future value-creating prospects, building on its 131-year history.

Feike Sijbesma continued to say that the company is happy to suggest Roy Jakobs as the new CEO of Philips.

She agreed that Roy has an impressive track record of driving performance improvements and value creation across a broad range of businesses, both inside and outside of Philips, including in the health technology sector.

He is devoted to patient safety and actively participates in Philips’ programs for ongoing quality improvement.
