Saudi Health Ministry restructures regional affairs for better care

SAUDI ARABIA —Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel has announced an extensive restructuring of regional health affairs directorates around the Kingdom, transforming them into Ministry of Health branches.

According to the Saudi Gazette, Al-Jalajel made the news at the Eastern Province’s Ministry Leaders Forum.

In his speech, he stated that these branches would assume the ministry’s organizational and supervisory responsibilities in their respective regions and provinces.

This decision is part of the Ministry of Health’s larger transformation strategy, which includes a clear separation of organizational and supervisory duties from financing and health care delivery.

The transition began with the Cabinet’s decision to create the Health Holding Company and approve the construction of the National Health Insurance Centre.

These basic modifications have laid the groundwork for the succeeding stages of the transformation process.

The first step of this change, which required establishing health clusters in all regions of the Kingdom, was completed successfully at the end of last year.

These clusters serve as the cornerstone for regional healthcare management, encouraging localised control and customised healthcare solutions.

The second step, which began in mid-year, is moving these health clusters to the Health Holding Company. This change is intended to streamline processes and guarantee that healthcare services are managed more efficiently and effectively.

Furthermore, this transition illustrates the leadership’s persistent commitment to provide the resources necessary to improve the quality of health care provided to beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Health intends to increase the comprehensiveness, efficiency, and integration of healthcare services across the Kingdom by decentralising and reorganising the healthcare system.

This strategy is intended to make healthcare services more accessible while also being more responsive to the unique needs of each location.

In addition, the health reform in the Kingdom signifies a fundamental shift in the paradigm of healthcare, as it employs a modern approach.

This model prioritises preventive healthcare, contributes to comprehensive healthcare, raises awareness, and improves access to healthcare for all individuals.

By emphasising preventive care, the model hopes to lower the prevalence of chronic diseases and enhance general public health.

Moreover, this modern healthcare model aims to create a healthy nation by addressing healthcare requirements at both the individual and community levels.

It combines cutting-edge technologies and new approaches to deliver high-quality care and enhance patient outcomes.

The emphasis on health-related awareness and education is also important in empowering citizens to take proactive efforts to maintain their health.
