SIERRA LEONE – The Theresa Hakim Hospital in Bo Town, Sierra Leone has received US$20,000 in funding from Sunrider International, a global health and wellness direct sales company.
The first maternal health facility in Sierra Leone will use the funding to purchase new hospital beds as well as to update hospital equipment and essential health supplies.
In addition, the funding will ensure support the Theresa Hakim Hospital in optimizing existing health systems to improve maternal and newborn outcomes.
Part of Sunrider’s contribution will also be used to facilitate vital training for the medical staff particularly hospital updates and staff training before end of 2022.
The California-based pharma company announced that it had made a US$20,000 donation to Engage Now Africa for the Theresa Hakim Hospital in Sierra Leone in honor of World Humanitarian Day.
Guided by owner expertise, Sunrider is a growing global enterprise that currently spans nearly 50 countries.
The manufacturing company said that the recent donation becomes the second contribution that Sunrider has made supporting a maternal health clinic with Engage Now Africa.
According to Sunrider, Engage Now Africa is an international non-profit organization whose purpose is to heal, rescue and lift vulnerable individuals, families and communities to help them become self-reliant through strategic programs, projects and partnerships.
Sunrider Chief Executive officer Sunny Beutler lauded the work of humanitarians worldwide, noting that the company’s donation to Theresa Hakim Hospital in Sierra Leone aims to support medical staff to continue to impact the lives of mothers, children and their families.
