USA — In a strategic move to bolster its support for companies in the Life Science and Healthcare sectors, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), a division of First Citizens Bank, has appointed two seasoned veterans to lead key roles.
SVB announced that Jackie Spencer, a 16-year veteran at the bank, will now serve as the Head of Relationship Management for Life Science and Healthcare Banking.
Additionally, Megan Scheffel, who boasts an impressive 26-year tenure at SVB, has been named as the Head of Credit Solutions for the same practice.

Jackie Spencer, in her role as Head of Relationship Management, leads a team that focuses on early to late-stage companies specializing in biopharma, healthtech, medical services, and diagnostics tools.
Her wealth of experience includes managing large syndicated, mezzanine, and convertible debt opportunities across the US, Canadian, and European Life Science and Healthcare markets.
Prior to this, she served as Managing Director, spearheading the West Coast biotech, diagnostics, and research tools team.
Her extensive background includes working in both technology and healthcare practices, with a focus on corporate finance.
Megan Scheffel, as Head of Credit Solutions, is responsible for providing holistic and specialized debt financings to support SVB’s Life Science and Healthcare clients at all stages of their growth journey.
With a notable career that spans global leadership roles, including serving as the Global Senior Credit Officer for Life Science and Healthcare, and leading teams in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Divisions, Scheffel brings a wealth of expertise and insights to her new position.
