Talabat partners Magdi Yacoub Foundation to boost access to heart care 

EGYPT – Talabat Egypt, the region’s leading food delivery and quick commerce company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation (MYF) to facilitate donations to healthcare in remote villages through its platform.

Founded in 2008, Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation provides free world-class medical services for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases for the under-privileged especially children in Egypt and across the region.

The foundation also aims to train young doctors and nurses in accordance with the highest international medical standards and develop research in the field of basic, applied and biomedical sciences.

The partnership between Talabat and Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation seeks to leverage talabat’s technology to aid humanitarian causes and use talabat’s platform to facilitate the Foundation’s medical care and treatment services.

Consumers can donate Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation on talabat by downloading the application on the iOS App Store, Google Play Store or the Huawei App Gallery.

Talabat will also allow consumers to donate to child’s operational costs, purchase medical devices and fund patients meals since the platform is used by millions of Egyptians in over 20 cities on a daily basis.

Moreover, customers can now donate to Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation on talabat to support the purchasing of medicines and construction of the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation in Cairo, Egypt.

Talabat Egypt Head of Communications, Public Affairs and Corporate Sustainability Asmaa Khalil acknowledged that cooperating with influential institutions such as Magdi Yacoub will ease the burden on Egyptian communities and complement countrywide efforts to provide a dignified life for citizens.

“Under the partnership with MYF, talabat will enable our customers to donate to those in dire need of health care as well as contribute to the humanitarian work carried out by the Foundation,” said Asmaa.

She further said that the partnership would contribute greatly to the treatment of cardiovascular diseases which are among the leading causes of death among non-communicable diseases in Egypt.

Marketing Director at Magdi Yacoub Foundation, Reem Gad Elrab disclosed that the Foundation was working towards expanding its operations to meet the growing demand for free of charge, modern medical care to the underprivileged and vulnerable age-groups.

In addition, Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation is currently developing treatment, research and investing in talent in the healthcare sector.

“Our partnerships with entities such as talabat, who share our societal values and efforts to deploy technology for noble causes, push us to achieve a pivotal shift in the above and support in widening the scope of care within Egypt and the region,” added Reem Gad Elrab.

Earlier, the delivery company facilitated the donation of over 340,000 meals and 44,000 medicine donations in 2020 to those in need as well as donated over 1.3million euros (US$1.44 million) to charity with the help of its partners and customers.

It also supported Al Orman charity organization in its journey to assist communities in need across several avenues such as eradicating hunger and achieving sustainable development in Egyptian cities and villages in March 2022.

Talabat’s food delivery business works well with over 25,000 brands and almost 50,000 branches while the company’s e-commerce concept talabat mart currently delivers groceries to customers in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman Qatar, and the UAE in 30 minutes or less.
