AUBMC hosts the first-ever Structural Heart Conference in Lebanon

LEBANON – The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) has concluded its two-day summit aimed at enhancing patient care in the field of structural heart disease.

The Beirut Valves Summit was held in multipurpose rooms housed within the Halim and Aida Daniel Academic and Clinical Center (ACC Building) situated in the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut.

It is worth highlighting that the ACC building at the American University of Beirut Medical Center achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification issued by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

In a press release published by AUBMC, Fadi Sawaya MD, FACC, Interventional Cardiologist at AUBMC said: “This conference served as a unique platform for healthcare professionals to keep pace with the latest research findings, learn from the experiences and trial-and-error of their peers, and gain valuable insights that directly impact their daily clinical practice.”

The sole purpose of the Beirut Valves Summit was to showcase the latest advancements in the field of cardiovascular interventions.

Additionally, the two-day event focused on providing innovative medical education, training, and assistance to medical professionals in the field of structural heart disease.

It is the result of the pooled efforts of effective members from AUBMC, including Dounia Iskandarani MScN, MScIH, an Advanced Practice Provider at AUBMC, and Fadi Sawaya MD, FACC, an Interventional Cardiologist at AUBMC.

Ziyad Ghazzal MD, FACC, FSCAI, an Interventional Cardiologist at AUBMC, also played a pivotal role in the success of the Beirut Valves Summit.

The Beirut Valves Summit featured a two-day course dedicated to transcatheter therapies for structural heart disease.

It put a special emphasis on the significance of the pioneering achievements of the structural heart program at AUBMC, one of the leading medical centers in Lebanon.

The two-day course gathered renowned internationally acclaimed physicians of international who were given a platform to share their expertise and experiences in transcatheter therapies for structural heart disease.

In his address, Dr. Fadi Sawaya noted: “By staying informed and incorporating evidence-based practices, attendees can enhance the safety and quality of care they provide to their patients.”

The renowned physicians divulged their knowledge and insights which are not only beneficial to the local medical community but also provided valuable information to the wider international audience.

Additionally, the Beirut Valves Summit featured live-streamed procedures from AUBMC’s state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory directly into the conference room.

It is a clear reflection of the unwavering commitment of the Structural Heart Program (SHP) team at AUBMC to stay at the forefront of cardiovascular medicine.

These live surgical demonstrations provided an exceptional training opportunity for attendees, in particular allowing them to observe real-time procedures and engage in interactive discussions with the audience.
