BAHRAIN – The BMMI Group has offered full scholarships to two Bahraini nursing undergraduate students enrolled in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain).

RCSI Bahrain is a not-for-profit health sciences institution focused on education and research to drive positive change in all areas of human health worldwide.

The fully-funded scholarships were granted on merit after the two Bahraini students meet the University entry and admissions requirements, as well as eligibility criteria outlined by BMMI, a leading private sector enterprise in Bahrain.

In a press statement, Abdullah Buhindi, Chairman of the BMMI Group, underscored: “Community involvement has always been a cornerstone of BMMI’s commitment to making a difference, and we are always eager to support Bahraini youth and the wellbeing of the population.”

Through their shared goal of advancing healthcare in Bahrain and supporting local talents, the BMMI Group and RCSI Bahrain have been working closely to offer undergraduate scholarship opportunities.

This undergraduate scholarship initiative started during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as part of BMMI’s efforts to nurture the local workforce, with an emphasis on education and research.

RCSI Bahrain’s nursing undergraduate programme sees an average of 120 graduates per year and offers education on par with international standards, as well as clinical experience from the early stages of the programme.

With the approval of its Board of Directors, BMMI covers two full scholarships for Bahraini students enrolled in the full-time, four-year nursing undergraduate programme.

These scholarships help us contribute towards Bahraini talent, as well as the important role nurses play when it comes to the community’s health. We wish the students the best of luck in their degree and look forward to continuing to track their success,” asserted Abdullah Buhindi.

The initiative offers two Bahraini students an ideal opportunity to contribute to the significant role of nurses as healthcare practitioners at the forefront of patient care.

Ultimately, BMMI can contribute to the strategic objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, with higher education playing a vital role in the kingdom’s future and global economy.

The Group is one of the leaders in the wholesale distribution, retail, and production of food and beverages fortified by its end-to-end supply chain solutions and services related to logistics, procurement, integrated facility management, and shipping.

Speaking on behalf of BMMI’s Board of Directors, Abdullah Buhindi said: “I would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to sponsor two Bahraini undergraduate students with full scholarships at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain.”

BMMI has awarded scholarship funds to two Bahraini nursing undergraduate students from RCSI Bahrain this year, aligning with its commitment to making a difference in the community it serves.

The students will have numerous benefits from the scholarship for the duration of the four-year programme, subject to maintaining a yearly score equivalent to honours for each academic year.

The scholarships were awarded to the nursing undergraduate students in the presence of RCSI Bahrain’s School of Medicine Head and Academic Affairs Vice-President, Professor Alfred Nicholson, alongside members of the university faculty and BMMI representatives.

Commenting on the significance of the collaboration with BMMI, Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director of RCSI Bahrain, stated: “Such partnership is most significant for the sponsorship recipients, whose career path has been transformed into a ‘dream come true’. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to BMMI’s Board of Directors for choosing RCSI Bahrain.”
