UAE – National Reference Laboratory (NRL), a Mubadala Health partner, is ready to host the third edition of the Point of Care of Testing (POCT) Advances Conference at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, underway from 11th March to 12th March 2023.

The conference will address the key topics and issues around POCT in the decentralized patient care setting, including Primary Care, Community Care, Urgent Care, and Home Care.

POCT is diagnostic testing conducted at the site of patient care that provides quick results allowing physicians to make a rapid diagnosis and immediate treatment.

The third edition of the POCT Advances Conference will focus on the implementation of the primary care model in the Middle East through financing, infrastructure, and education around POCT testing.

Accredited with Continuing Medical Education (CME) by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the conference is sponsored by various international diagnostic companies including Roche, Abbott, Siemens Healthineers, Babirus Medical Equipment, and Nova Biomedical.

Its main theme is: “Decentralized Patient Care. Delivering on the Promise of Point of Care Testing” which includes the intersection of POCT and digital health.

This year’s event is expected to bring together point-of-care coordinators and managers, laboratory managers, technical directors, laboratory technologists, allied health professionals, nurses, phlebotomists, and physicians.

Additionally, the event will feature renowned experts championing POCT in their domains from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Europe, including policymakers from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH).

The notable experts include Amna Ibrahim Al Saeedi, Section Head of Health Technology and Innovation Impact Assessment at the DoH, Dr. Shiefa Sequeira, Clinical Scientist at the DHA, and Dr. Ola Jarad, Associate Staff Physician, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Heba Kary, Head of Clinical Biochemistry and POCT at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Wael Elamin, Medical Director of G42 Healthcare, and Jaham Shada Habib Said, POCT Supervisor at Hamad Medica will also present at the event.

The latest edition of the POCT Advances Conference will be a unique platform for regional and international speakers to discuss and share their insights on advances in point-of-care testing (POCT).

By the end of the conference, delegates will put forward a call to action for the medical community to consider POCT’s benefits for the wider healthcare infrastructure.
