UGANDA – Uganda is set to benefit from a modern mobile clinic donated by Dubai-based Aster DM Healthcare, a leading private healthcare provider in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and India.

The company, which has five hospitals and 190 pharmacies in Dubai, has pledged to establish the clinic to provide free medical screening and basic healthcare services to those in need across Uganda.

The team, led by Jaleel PA, head of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department, and Saravanan Arimuthu, a senior manager, met with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine Kanzira, to discuss the donation and explore possibilities of integrating the best medical and digital technology to ensure maximum benefit for the people of Uganda.

Jaleel stated, “We shall procure and fabricate the vehicle in UAE or India, with our expertise, and ship the unit to Uganda with all related documents.

‘’We aim to integrate the best medical and digital technology, ensuring that many people benefit from the services.”

The company has extensive experience in running mobile clinics, having operated more than 40 such units across the Middle East, India, and Africa for the past 13 years, meeting the needs of millions of people every year.

Aster Volunteers, the company’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility Program, launched seven years ago, has impacted more than five million lives across over 15 countries.

“We are keen to work closely with the Ministry of Health in Uganda on a Strategic Partnership, where all capital expenditures related to the Mobile Clinic, including procurement, customization, fabrication, and shipping will be borne by us, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and giving back initiatives,” Jaleel said.

The team will be in Uganda for five days, meeting with relevant stakeholders and seeking to collaborate with a leading government hospital under the Ministry of Health and its associated University Hospital or Charitable Hospital with an excellent track record, as recommended by the ambassador or the ministry, for its sustainable operational engagement and capacity development program.

Amb. Henry Mayega, the Consul-General of Uganda in Dubai, who sourced Aster DM Healthcare and linked them with the Ministry of Health, expressed his happiness at the company’s decision to extend their expertise and technology to Uganda, stating that he was optimistic many poor people who cannot access good healthcare services would benefit from this initiative.
