INDIA – Wipro GE HealthCare Private Limited has hired Chaitanya Sarawate as its new Managing Director and as President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GE HealthCare’s South Asia business.

Mr. Chaitanya succeeds Dr. Shravan Subramanyam and the two will work closely together for a smooth transition as he integrates into his new role, effective February 13, 2023.

He will be reporting to Elie Chaillot, who is the President & CEO of GE HealthCare’s Intercontinental region since January 2022, the pharmaceutical company informed in a statement.

Upon being notified of his appointment, Chaitanya stated: “South Asia is a powerhouse for the organization. The market is uniquely positioned to be at the cutting-edge of clinical excellence and unlock the value of precision care at scale.”

He expressed his readiness to collaborate with the GE Healthcare team to further propel the medical technology company’s business in India – for India and the world.

With over 20 years of corporate experience in the healthcare industry, Chaitanya will be responsible for strengthening the company’s market leadership position in South Asia and scaling its growth.

He has served at GE HealthCare for over 12 years thus he is well-suited to continue driving its localization strategy and delivering clinical excellence, access and precision care.

Prior to his current role, Chaitanya was the Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer of Services for AKA (ASEAN, Korea, Australia & New Zealand), where he spearheaded organizational transformation.

According to the Company’s statement, he played a central role in spearheading organizational transformation that drove enhanced visibility, increased empowerment, and gains through segment specialization.

Moreover, he has been working at Wipro GE HealthCare in since 2020, presiding over record growth and a focus on localization, skilling and PPP (Public-Private Partnership) initiatives aligned to the national agenda of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Wipro GE HealthCare launched its PLI factory and ‘Made in India’ products, built collaborations to advance patient care pathways as well as launched the first 5G Innovation Lab for GE HealthCare globally, in Bengaluru,” the company stated.

In addition, he created opportunities to expand and realize GE Healthcare’s vision in the region while effectively championing the organization’s mission to ‘make in India – for India and the world’.
