UAE – The United Arab Emirates has successfully hosted the inaugural World Society of Oculoplastics and Reconstructive Surgeons (WSOPRAS) Conference in Dubai.

The World Society of Ocuplastics and Reconstructive Surgeons is a global organization that brings together specialists in Ocuplastics and Reconstructive Surgery to advance the field through education, research, and collaboration.

The society facilitates opportunities for members to exchange knowledge and expertise from all corners of the world through highly curated meetings and conferences.

The society’s first-ever WSOPRAS Conference aimed to bring a major change in the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Oculoplastics industry, with the UAE at the epicenter.

It was officiated by Dr. Noura Al Qassimi, the President of the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology (ESO), who praised the UAE as a future hub of scientific innovation by encouraging global cross-collaboration.

This conference comes as Oculoplastics and Reconstructive Surgery is one of the fastest-growing fields in the GCC at a staggering projected annual growth rate of 12.6%.

According to the Data Bridge Market Research, the oculoplastic surgery market is expected to reach US$13900.53 million by 2029.

The WSOPRAS Conference 2023 brought together over 400 physicians who specialize in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the periorbital and facial tissues under one roof.

This global oculoplastic symposium featured keynote presentations from renowned medical specialists, engaging panel discussions, and ample networking opportunities.

The three-day event gathered over 70 speakers from over 67 countries around the world to discuss and share their insights on the latest advancements in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

It served as an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn from and interact with top industry experts and gain insights into new surgical techniques.

Besides peer-to-peer networking, participants learned about the application of cutting-edge technologies and unpacked their benefits in revolutionizing oculoplastic surgery services.

The attendees also took part in discussions about Thyroid Eye Disease and innovative new surgical procedures around eyelid and orbital disorders.

Additionally, several medical experts delivered industry briefings on the use of smartphones to assess Blepharospasm and various eye disorders, unconventional reconstruction procedures outside Asia, and the future of tear duct surgeries.

The WSOPRAS Conference 2023 also featured live, hands-on cadaver demonstrations on cadavers, exemplifying the symposium’s dedication to making a tangible impact in the industry.

Moreover, the event will play a critical role in solidifying the UAE’s position as a burgeoning leader in the healthcare industry and a potential destination for future revolutionary conferences.
