UAE – Zulekha Healthcare Group has begun its month-long ‘Chance to Change’ campaign to raise public awareness on the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer among women in the United Arab Emirates.

The ‘Chance to Change’ campaign aligns with the Zulekha Healthcare Group’s commitment to quality care and sustainable business practices, and providing high-quality healthcare to patients and society.

Zulekha Healthcare Group has been at the forefront of driving well-being with awareness initiatives on prevention and early detection of diseases.

Throughout this month of June, women in the United Arab Emirates will have access to free cervical cancer screening, cervical cancer vaccination, and gynecology consultations at the Group’s healthcare facilities in Dubai and Sharjah.

It is part of the global effort to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer by 2030, aligning with the UAE’s goal to reduce cancer mortality by nearly 18% by 2025.

This year’s project will build on previous achievements at the Zulekha hospitals, and it provides a highly effective way of enrolling more women into the free cervical cancer screening program at the healthcare facilities.

Speaking at the campaign launch ceremony in Dubai, Ms. Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson of Zulekha Healthcare Group, said: “We are always keen to support the nation’s objective of better health for all and have been playing an important role over many years in cancer prevention in UAE.”

The campaign will focus on elevating public awareness about screening for the preventable cancer type through the Human Papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) vaccination.

In the UAE, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women and the fourth leading cause of death in the country.

HPV vaccinations guard against infection brought on by the Human Papilloma Viruses group of more than 200 closely related viruses. Experts say early treatment prevents up to 80 percent of cervical cancer.

Through the ‘Chance to Change’ campaign, Zulekha Healthcare Group will provide women with the knowledge and confidence to have meaningful conversations about cervical cancer.

Zulekha Healthcare Group is reiterating its support for cervical cancer patients while increasing access to cervical cancer screening services in the UAE.

Backed by Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), this year’s ‘Chance to Change’ campaign will enhance FoCP’s specialised work in cancer advocacy and research as well as patient care and community work.

Friends of Cancer Patients recently released its new five-year strategy for cancer patient experience initiatives in the United Arab Emirates.

No one deserves to die of cervical cancer as it can be caught and cured early. Let’s join hands and raise this awareness alongside vaccinating our younger girls and women in time,” underscored Ms. Zanubia Shams.
