ETHIOPIA—Addis Ababa has emerged as the chosen host city for the 5th International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA), marking a significant achievement for Ethiopia’s standing as a global diplomatic hub.
The Africa CDC made this announcement following constructive negotiations between the organization and Ethiopian government officials, signaling a strong partnership to deliver what promises to be a landmark event for public health advancement across the continent.
Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa CDC, emphasized the strategic importance of this selection during his announcement.
He highlighted that Addis Ababa’s position as Africa’s diplomatic capital provides an unparalleled platform for convening governments, international partners, researchers, and health practitioners.
This convergence of key stakeholders will enable meaningful dialogue and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening the continent’s public health infrastructure and response capabilities.

During these talks, both parties confirmed their readiness to collaborate seamlessly with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the event meets international standards and expectations.
