Trellis Health selects InterSystems IntelliCare to power AI-enabled healthcare network in Dubai

Trellis Health is adopting an artificial intelligence-centred approach from the outset, allowing it to build its digital infrastructure without the constraints of legacy systems.

UAE—Trellis Health, the Al Ghurair-backed healthcare group, has selected InterSystems IntelliCare as the digital foundation for its expanding healthcare network in Dubai, aiming to improve care coordination, clinical workflows and patient experience.

The group currently operates Trellis Hospital in Jumeirah and is developing two outpatient clinics.

It also plans to build a new hospital and establish additional clinics as it expands access to healthcare across the emirate.

AI integrated into clinical operations

Trellis Health is adopting an artificial intelligence-centred approach from the outset, allowing it to build its digital infrastructure without the constraints of legacy systems.

The strategy places AI within clinical and operational workflows to help healthcare professionals access information, reduce administrative tasks and devote more time to patient care.

InterSystems IntelliCare combines electronic health record (EHR) functionality with AI tools designed for healthcare settings.

Built on InterSystems’ established healthcare technology, the platform offers workflow assistance, conversational interfaces and access to clinical information to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

InterSystems says IntelliCare is the first EHR designed with AI at its core to receive certification under the European Union’s Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR).

The platform will support Trellis Health’s Connected Caring model by enabling clinicians and operational teams across hospitals and clinics to coordinate services around individual patients.

Its intended applications include connecting care teams across facilities, helping clinicians tailor care to patients’ needs, simplifying appointments and follow-up, and supporting preventive care and long-term wellbeing.

The system will also provide a digital infrastructure for future technology upgrades, with clinical governance, care quality and patient trust remaining important considerations as AI capabilities evolve.

Expansion plans and industry implications

Trellis Health’s investment reflects a broader healthcare technology strategy in which providers are incorporating AI into new facilities rather than retrofitting it into established systems.

A unified digital platform can help healthcare groups standardise workflows, improve information sharing and support expansion across multiple sites.

However, the benefits will depend on implementation, staff adoption, data quality and appropriate safeguards for clinical information.

John Iossifidis, group chief executive officer of Al Ghurair, said the group was extending its contribution to Dubai’s development into healthcare through a long-term commitment to improving health outcomes and expanding access to quality services.

He said the digital investment would support the Connected Caring model by helping healthcare professionals collaborate and making care more accessible and coordinated as the network grows.

Dr Daniah Jasim, chief executive officer of Trellis Health, said the organisation was building its healthcare operations around an AI centred EHR from the beginning.

She noted that IntelliCare combines AI capabilities with established healthcare information system functions to simplify workflows, improve access to information and give providers more time for patients.

InterSystems welcomed the partnership, describing it as a milestone in Trellis Health’s adoption of an AI enabled digital foundation.
