JAPAN— Fujitsu Japan Limited and JMDC Inc have launched a groundbreaking collaboration designed to revolutionize medical care and establish a sustainable healthcare system across Japan.

The partnership, which officially began on January 5, brings together JMDC’s specialized expertise in utilizing anonymized medical data with Fujitsu Japan’s extensive customer base in the healthcare sector.

Fujitsu Japan currently commands the largest market share in Japan’s electronic health record (EHR) system for medical institutions.

This dominant position, combined with JMDC’s data analytics capabilities, creates a powerful synergy that will accelerate medical data utilization among healthcare institutions and organizations.

 The collaboration also aims to support healthcare providers in making informed, data-driven management decisions.

Combining advanced technology and real-world health data

The partnership merges Fujitsu Japan’s deep knowledge of the medical field and cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, with JMDC’s sophisticated prediction models derived from insurance user data.

JMDC has cultivated significant expertise through Pep Up, one of Japan’s largest personal health record services, which currently serves 7.7 million users.

This combination will extend data utilization beyond DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination) data to encompass comprehensive EHR data across the healthcare spectrum.

The initiative promises to advance medical data utilization in ways that will benefit multiple stakeholders.

Medical institutions will gain improved management capabilities, while pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and academic researchers will access enhanced datasets for advanced research purposes.

Free management tools for participating institutions

Fujitsu Japan will offer Dashboard 360, an innovative solution that enables visualization and analysis of both management and clinical data, free of charge to medical institutions that agree to provide anonymized DPC data.

Dashboard 360 operates as part of Fujitsu Limited’s Uvance business model, which specifically addresses societal challenges through its Smart Hospital offering designed to maximize hospital operational efficiency and effectiveness.

The platform functions as a key component of the Healthcare Management Platform, a comprehensive suite of services created to optimize patient flow in acute care hospitals and support the resolution of complex management challenges.

Dashboard 360 integrates seamlessly with existing EHR systems, allowing healthcare administrators to conduct factor analysis of critical issues such as declining bed occupancy rates and extended waiting times for hospitalization or surgery.

The system analyzes information including inpatient care patterns and outpatient conditions that lead to hospitalization, providing actionable insights for hospital leadership.

Benchmarking and research capabilities

The platform includes a sophisticated benchmarking function that uses JMDC data, as well as DPC data from medical institutions, to enable timely and informed hospital management decisions.
