Aster DM Quality Care begins operations post-merger with over 10,600 beds

INDIA—Aster DM Quality Care has officially begun operations following the completion of the merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Limited (QCIL), creating one of India’s largest integrated healthcare providers.

The newly formed organization brings together four established healthcare brands including Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH, under a single platform focused on expanding access to advanced and affordable medical care across the country.

The merger follows the completion of regulatory approvals and the successful integration process announced in recent days.

The combined company will continue under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr. Azad Moopen, while Varun Khanna has assumed the role of Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer.

Together, they will oversee the integration of clinical services, technology platforms and operations across the enlarged healthcare network.

Expanding specialist care beyond major cities

With a strong presence across South and Central India, Aster DM Quality Care aims to strengthen healthcare delivery in fast-growing tier 2 and tier 3 cities, where access to specialist treatment remains limited.

The organization plans to bring advanced medical services closer to patients by expanding centres of excellence, investing in modern technologies and increasing specialist care outside metropolitan areas.

Dr. Moopen described the merger as a defining milestone that unites two organizations with shared values, clinical excellence and a common commitment to patient care.

He said the integration creates a stronger and more resilient institution that is better equipped to meet India’s evolving healthcare needs.

Khanna added that the immediate priority is a seamless integration that maintains uninterrupted patient care while combining systems, capabilities and best practices across the network.

He noted that patients, clinicians, employees and partners will remain at the centre of every decision as the organization adopts more digitally enabled healthcare solutions and continues to improve clinical outcomes.

Technology investments and future growth

The merged platform expects to generate combined effect in clinical collaboration, procurement, digital health, operational efficiency and technology adoption.

Physicians across the network will increasingly work together through shared treatment protocols, multidisciplinary case discussions and centres of excellence, allowing patients to benefit from broader expertise while receiving consistent standards of care.

Aster DM Quality Care now operates 39 hospitals in 28 cities with more than 10,600 beds.

The network serves patients in emerging healthcare hubs, including Nagpur, Aurangabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Nagercoil, Kolhapur, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kottakkal, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger cities for complex treatment.

The company also plans to expand investments in advanced medical technologies, including Gamma Knife systems, stereotactic radiosurgery platforms such as ZAP, 10 robotic surgical systems and 12 additional LINAC-based radiation therapy units to improve access to cancer care in underserved regions.

Over the next few years, Aster DM Quality Care expects to increase its capacity to more than 15,000 beds while supporting a workforce of over 45,000 healthcare professionals.

The expansion is also expected to create thousands of new employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff as the network continues to grow across India.
