Crown Prince of Dubai inspects regional healthcare logistics hub at Aster Pharmacy
The distribution centre processes approximately 75,000 transactions each day, supporting Aster’s network of 350 pharmacies, 120 medical clinics and 15 hospitals across the UAE.
UAE—His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has visited Aster Pharmacy’s distribution centre at Dubai Industrial City.
The 145,000 sq. ft. facility is among the region’s largest pharmaceutical warehouses and supports the distribution of medicines and medical supplies across the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) through Aster’s network.
Public and private sector collaboration
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the role of the private sector in developing an efficient and reliable healthcare system.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation between government and private healthcare providers to ensure communities have access to high quality medicines and medical supplies.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, and Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, briefed Sheikh Hamdan on the facility’s operations and the technology used to manage its distribution activities.
The centre uses automated systems and robotics to process orders and manage the movement of medicines.
These technologies help improve operational efficiency while enabling Aster to distribute medicines with greater speed and accuracy.
Sheikh Hamdan commended the facility’s technology driven approach and its contribution to improving pharmaceutical distribution.
He also expressed support for Aster’s continued expansion and its efforts to introduce innovative solutions across its healthcare operations.
Supporting Aster’s UAE network

The scale of the operation enables the company to coordinate the movement of medicines and other healthcare products across its facilities while maintaining supply continuity for patients and healthcare providers.
Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied during the visit by His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; and His Excellency Malek Al Malek, Chairman of TECOM Group.
Aster’s focus on technology
Commenting on the visit, Dr. Azad Moopen said Aster was honoured to host Sheikh Hamdan and demonstrate the capabilities of its automated pharmaceutical warehouse.
He said the facility plays an important role in supporting faster and more accurate medicine distribution across the UAE.
Dr. Moopen added that Sheikh Hamdan’s visit highlighted the importance of innovation and collaboration between the public and private sectors in strengthening healthcare services.
He said Aster would continue investing in technology and operational improvements as it contributes to Dubai’s efforts to develop a modern healthcare system supported by digital solutions.
