Bamberg brings more than 20 years of international experience in regulated manufacturing, with expertise spanning medical devices, combination products and pharmaceutical production.

GERMANY—Sanner Group has appointed Frank Bamberg as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective September 15, 2026, to support the company’s manufacturing growth across pharmaceutical packaging and medical device contract development and manufacturing.
Bamberg brings more than 20 years of international experience in regulated manufacturing, with expertise spanning medical devices, combination products, and pharmaceutical production.
In his new role, he will oversee operational priorities as Sanner expands its production capabilities and develops its contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) business.
His experience covers the product lifecycle, from research and development to commercial manufacturing.
He has also focused on building scalable operations and preparing manufacturing processes for commercial production, capabilities that will be important as Sanner serves customers across the healthcare industry.
Experience across pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing
Before joining Sanner, Bamberg served as Head of Primary Packaging and Medical Devices Product Care at CSL Behring, where he gained experience in pharmaceutical packaging and medical device operations.
Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Hoffmann-La Roche and Schott, working in Switzerland and the United States.
His background across pharmaceutical and medical technology companies gives Sanner additional operational leadership as it seeks to increase production capacity while maintaining quality standards in regulated markets.
Bamberg succeeds Heino Lennartz, who has served as interim COO since autumn 2025.
Lennartz will return to his full-time responsibilities as Chairman of the Sanner Group, following the transition.
Stefan Verheyden, CEO of Sanner Group, said Bamberg’s experience in international manufacturing operations across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology industries made him a strong fit for the position.
“He will play an important role in growing our pharmaceutical packaging production while also strengthening manufacturing readiness for our growing medical device CDMO business,” Verheyden said.
The appointment comes as healthcare manufacturers continue to rely on specialist suppliers for packaging, device development and production.
Companies operating in these markets must meet strict quality and regulatory requirements while managing production capacity, supply chain reliability, and the transition from product development to commercial manufacturing.
Focus on production capacity and manufacturing readiness
Sanner’s plans to expand pharmaceutical packaging production and its medical device CDMO activities place manufacturing execution at the centre of its operational priorities.
Packaging suppliers must deliver consistent product quality and dependable output, while CDMOs need the technical and operational capabilities to move customer products through development and into commercial production.
Manufacturing readiness is particularly important for medical devices and combination products, which may require coordinated development, production processes and quality controls before commercialisation.
Experience across these stages can help manufacturers align technical requirements with production planning and support more consistent operations across multiple sites.
Bamberg said he looked forward to further developing Sanner’s international production network and maintaining consistent quality across its locations.
“I see enormous potential and will be happy to help translate that potential into sustainable growth,” he said.
His responsibilities will include supporting the development of Sanner’s production network as the company pursues growth in pharmaceutical packaging and medical device manufacturing.
The transition also returns Lennartz to his permanent leadership role as chairman, ending his interim operational responsibilities.
