Al Ghurair launches Trellis Health to expand healthcare access in Dubai

Trellis Health’s expansion comes as Dubai plans for population growth and increased demand for healthcare infrastructure.

UAE—Al Ghurair has launched Trellis Health in the UAE to expand access to coordinated healthcare services, beginning with its existing hospital in Umm Suqeim and plans to open two clinics in Dubai by the end of 2026.

The new healthcare group is built around its “Connected Caring” approach, which focuses on coordinating services across the patient journey.

The model brings together multidisciplinary clinical teams, patient-focused services and digital technology to simplify access to care, while supporting patients’ long term health needs.

Trellis Health’s expansion comes as Dubai plans for population growth and increased demand for healthcare infrastructure.

Under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the emirate’s population is projected to reach 5.8 million by 2040, with 25% more land allocated for health and education facilities.

Trellis Health plans to expand its presence alongside the city’s growing communities.

Hospital anchors the healthcare network

Trellis Health begins with Trellis Hospital in Umm Suqeim, a 50 bed, Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited multispecialty facility.

The group plans to open two additional clinics in Expo City and Jumeirah Village Circle by the end of 2026, extending its reach into two growing residential and business communities.

The network’s development strategy also includes plans for another hospital and two further clinics.

The expansion will increase the group’s physical presence as it seeks to serve more patients across Dubai.

Trellis Hospital provides emergency care, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine and general surgery, among more than 35 medical specialties.

Its existing clinical services and established community presence provide the foundation for the group’s planned expansion.

Connected Caring shapes service delivery

Trellis Health’s operating model centres on four commitments: coordinating care through a team approach, prioritising patients’ needs, simplifying the healthcare experience through technology, and supporting health beyond immediate treatment.

The model is intended to improve how patients navigate different services, from accessing specialists to coordinating care across multiple stages of treatment.

Digital tools will form part of this approach, although the group has not disclosed specific technology platforms or implementation timelines.

John Iossifidis, Group Chief Executive Officer of Al Ghurair, said healthcare was a natural extension of the family business’s longstanding involvement in the UAE economy.

For more than six decades, Al Ghurair has invested in sectors including housing, food, transport and education.

Iossifidis said Trellis Health represents a long term commitment to improving health outcomes and expanding access to quality healthcare, supported by experienced healthcare professionals and a patient focused approach.

He added that Connected Caring would guide decisions on how the group brings clinical expertise, technology and coordinated services together around patients’ needs.

Family investment supports long term growth

Nasser Al Ghurair, Family Sponsor of Trellis Health, said the launch reflected the family business’s responsibility to contribute to the communities in which it operates.

He noted that successive generations had a role in building on previous investments and supporting priorities that would benefit future communities.

Healthcare, he said, offered another way for the group to contribute to the wellbeing of people and families across the UAE.

Al Ghurair’s backing provides Trellis Health with a long term investment base as it develops its network.

Its planned expansion also reflects broader activity in Dubai’s healthcare sector, where population growth is increasing the need for accessible clinical services, specialist care and additional healthcare facilities.

The group’s next planned developments are two clinics in Expo City and Jumeirah Village Circle, targeted to become operational by the end of 2026.
