BYPHAR is designed to simplify raw material selection while helping manufacturers meet increasingly stringent quality and regulatory requirements throughout the development and production process.

GERMANY—Brenntag, a global distributor of chemicals and ingredients, has announced the commercial availability of BYPHAR, a new portfolio of raw materials developed specifically for the biopharmaceutical industry.
The launch follows Brenntag’s recent partnership with Budenheim to expand access to phosphate solutions for biopharmaceutical manufacturers.
The agreement combines Budenheim’s manufacturing expertise with Brenntag’s biopharma services and global distribution network.
Brenntag introduced the three-tier BYPHAR portfolio in April, positioning it as an offering designed to support biopharmaceutical manufacturers from early research and development (R&D) through commercial production.
Portfolio targets biopharma manufacturing needs
BYPHAR is designed to simplify raw material selection while helping manufacturers meet increasingly stringent quality and regulatory requirements throughout the development and production process.
The portfolio combines Brenntag’s global distribution capabilities, regulatory expertise and technical services into a structured offering that allows customers to select raw materials according to their application, risk profile and manufacturing stage.
The portfolio supports the production of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), recombinant proteins, cell and gene therapies, vaccines, nucleic acids, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), biosimilars and diagnostics.
Brenntag said the biopharmaceutical industry faces growing regulatory scrutiny, increasingly complex supply chains and pressure to shorten development timelines.
These challenges have increased demand for raw materials with consistent quality, traceability and regulatory compliance.
BYPHAR addresses these requirements through a regulatory-ready portfolio supported by documentation, global supply capabilities and technical assistance.
“BYPHAR represents a major step forward in how we support our biopharma customers,” said Gearoid O’Rourke, senior director, Biopharma, Brenntag Pharma.
“By combining high-quality raw materials and flexibility with global supply reliability and deep regulatory expertise, we are helping customers accelerate development and ensure the highest standards across all manufacturing stages.”
Three-tier product offering
Brenntag has organized BYPHAR into three categories based on manufacturing risk: BYPHAR Explore, BYPHAR Enhance and BYPHAR Excel.
BYPHAR Explore targets research, process development and early-stage manufacturing.
It provides non-GMP materials for non-critical applications, with products supplied with essential regulatory documentation and monograph compliance where applicable.
BYPHAR Enhance offers GMP-compliant raw materials for use throughout biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
The products are manufactured in accordance with IPEC and EXCiPACT guidelines and include regulatory documentation to support qualification and validation activities.
BYPHAR Excel targets critical manufacturing applications and provides LBLE raw materials produced under GMP conditions.
Where applicable, the products are multi-compendial and come with extensive regulatory documentation designed to support stringent quality, compliance and supply-assurance requirements.
Customer portal and manufacturing partners
Brenntag plans to launch a dedicated customer portal in August, giving customers access to product specifications, fact sheets and regulatory documentation packages.
Alongside its own-label products, BYPHAR includes co-branded materials from manufacturing partners such as Budenheim, Citribel, K+S and Kerry.
The portfolio includes high-purity phosphates, citric acid and citrates, pharmaceutical-grade salts and acetates, supported by established manufacturing capabilities and global supply networks.
Brenntag said the portfolio brings sourcing, quality systems, technical expertise and regulatory support together under a single brand for biopharmaceutical manufacturers.
