The assistance forms part of a wider U.S.-Madagascar health partnership established under the bilateral Global Health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in December 2025.
This marks the sixth visit of Mercy Ships to Madagascar since 1996, reflecting a long-term partnership aimed at strengthening surgical systems and expanding access to life-changing care.
This mission represented Mercy Ships’ fifth visit to Madagascar since 1996 and the second consecutive field service of the Africa Mercy in the port city of Tamatave.
