Bupa Arabia achieves 58% diesel reduction in its 2024 sustainability push

Environmental sustainability stands as a cornerstone of the 2024 report, with the company achieving a 58% reduction in diesel consumption and a 64% decrease in refrigerant gas usage.

UAE—Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, revealing substantial achievements in environmental protection, social responsibility, and resource management throughout the year.

The insurance provider has built an institutional framework that connects quality healthcare with environmental conservation and human development, aligning its operations with Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The company has woven sustainability into its core business model, measuring its impact on society, the environment, employees, partners, and beneficiaries through concrete performance indicators.

This approach demonstrates Bupa Arabia’s dedication to creating lasting value for all stakeholders involved in its healthcare ecosystem.

Environmental sustainability stands as a cornerstone of the 2024 report, with the company achieving a 58% reduction in diesel consumption and a 64% decrease in refrigerant gas usage.

These improvements have significantly lowered the company’s carbon footprint while boosting energy efficiency across all operations, supporting the Saudi Green Initiative’s environmental targets.

Bupa Arabia has expanded its green efforts through a partnership with the NABATIK tree-planting initiative, which will offset 110 tCO₂e annually.

The company also eliminated more than 150,000 single-use plastic bottles, advancing waste reduction and natural resource conservation while promoting a cleaner environment.

The insurer has maintained its decade-long commitment to supporting orphans, expanding healthcare coverage to more than 2,400 orphans across 13 cities throughout Saudi Arabia in 2024.

The company processed nearly 9,500 medical requests during the year, ensuring these children receive continuous access to quality healthcare services.

Bupa Arabia organized the Bupa Marathon as part of its mission to promote healthier lifestyles across the Kingdom.

The event attracted thousands of participants and featured wellness booths, medical check-ups, consultations, and family activities focused on physical fitness and chronic disease management.

This initiative reflects the company’s belief that sustainable health begins with active community engagement.

Tal Nazer, CEO of Bupa Arabia, emphasized that the 2024 report highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to people, society, and the environment.

He stated that sustainability represents a long-term commitment rather than a destination, reflecting their vision to build an innovative healthcare system that balances economic growth with social responsibility.

The company has made significant progress in building an inclusive workplace, with women comprising 42% of the workforce and receiving approximately 44% of promotions during the year.

The nationalization rate reached 85.41%, while employees completed more than 150,000 training hours through programs with institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Columbia University.

Bupa Arabia achieved an employee engagement score of 89%, exceeding global benchmarks, while recording zero workplace injuries for the fourth consecutive year.

The company served over one million lives through digital healthcare services in 2024 via Bupa CareConnect, improving healthcare access and strengthening preventive care through advanced digital solutions.
