Align Technology to set up US$200M Invisalign plant in Hyderabad

The facility, which is expected to begin operations in 2027, will become Align Technology’s first manufacturing site in India and its fourth worldwide.

INDIA—US-based medical device manufacturer Align Technology has announced plans to invest US$200 million in a new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India.

This comes as the company accelerates its global expansion strategy and strengthens support for the fast-growing Asia-Pacific orthodontics market.

The facility, which is expected to begin operations in 2027, will become Align Technology’s first manufacturing site in India and its fourth worldwide.

In addition, the project is expected to generate more than 300 direct jobs over the coming years, reinforcing Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a major healthcare technology and innovation hub.

The investment follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Align Technology and the Telangana government.

According to recent media reports, the project will involve an estimated investment of Rs 1,800 crore (US$215 million), highlighting the scale of the company’s long-term commitment to India’s healthcare manufacturing sector.

Align Technology stated that the upcoming facility will complement its existing operations in Hyderabad, which already include the company’s Global Capability Center and Align Innovation Center.

As a result, the city will play an even larger role in Align’s worldwide manufacturing and digital dentistry network.

Expanding global manufacturing and digital dentistry operations

The company explained that the Hyderabad facility will help improve supply chain resilience, increase manufacturing efficiency, and bring production capabilities closer to customers in high-growth markets.

Furthermore, the plant is expected to contribute positively to profit margins during its first year of operations.

Jitse Marrée, executive vice-president of global operations at Align Technology, said India represents a strategically important growth market for the company.

He noted that the investment demonstrates Align’s commitment to expanding advanced manufacturing capabilities while increasing access to the Invisalign System for patients worldwide.

He also highlighted Hyderabad’s strong talent pool, modern infrastructure, and thriving innovation ecosystem as key factors that influenced the company’s decision to establish the new facility in the city.

JunHo Han, executive vice-president and managing director for Asia Pacific at Align Technology, added that the project reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.

He explained that Align continues to invest heavily in local teams, digital treatment-planning infrastructure, and regional capabilities to support the growing demand for Invisalign clear aligners.

According to the company, the new facility will strengthen localized support for Invisalign-trained doctors and improve service delivery across the region.

Recent innovations and business growth

The announcement comes shortly after Align Technology reported strong first-quarter 2026 financial results.

The company recorded Q1 revenues of US$1.04 billion, while Invisalign clear aligner shipments rose by 6.7% year-over-year to a record 685,700 cases.

Growth was particularly strong across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

In recent weeks, Align Technology has also showcased several new digital orthodontic innovations, including advances in Invisalign treatment systems, 3D printing workflows, and iTero Lumina intraoral scanners.

The company presented these technologies at the 2026 American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session and the Invisalign EMEA Ortho Summit, both held in Barcelona.

Align Technology currently serves nearly 299,500 doctors globally and has supported the treatment of approximately 22.8 million patients using the Invisalign System over the past 29 years.

The company also develops iTero intraoral scanners, exocad CAD/CAM software, and other digital dentistry solutions designed to improve orthodontic and restorative dental care workflows.
