Samsung Electronics Egypt partners with the Health Ministry to expand into the medical technology sector

EGYPT—Egypt is stepping up efforts to modernize its healthcare system through a new partnership with Samsung Electronics Egypt, focusing on medical training, digital transformation, and technology-driven healthcare services.

Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar recently met with Byung-Mo Shin, President of Samsung Electronics Egypt, to discuss expanding cooperation between the ministry and the technology company.

The talks reflect the government’s broader strategy to strengthen collaboration with the private sector and tap into global expertise to improve healthcare delivery across the country.

During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working with leading international companies to strengthen continuous medical education and professional training.

He said digital technologies can improve workplace efficiency while raising the quality of healthcare services offered to patients.

The ministry also views technology as a key driver for building a more resilient and modern healthcare system.

Focus on training infrastructure

A major part of the discussions centred on upgrading the Princess Fatima Professional Medical Education Centre.

The ministry and Samsung explored plans to establish a state-of-the-art training facility equipped with advanced technologies that can support the practical training of healthcare professionals.

The two sides also reviewed proposals to modernise the ministry’s crisis management room.

The upgraded facility would provide a more advanced learning environment where medical teams can strengthen their emergency response skills and receive training that aligns with international standards.

Officials believe the improved infrastructure will help healthcare workers keep pace with rapidly evolving medical practices and technologies.

Digital transformation takes center stage

The meeting also examined broader opportunities to use Samsung’s technological expertise to accelerate digital transformation across Egypt’s healthcare sector.

Discussions covered ways to modernise operational systems, improve service delivery, and support the long-term sustainability of medical education and workforce development programmes.

The ministry said digital solutions could help streamline healthcare operations while creating smarter training environments for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

The collaboration is expected to support ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technologies into public healthcare institutions.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Population, Samsung Electronics Egypt, and representatives of Asma Group attended the meeting.

The discussions come as Egypt continues to pursue wider healthcare reforms.

In recent days, the Ministry of Health updated its pharmaceutical strategy, broadened localisation plans for biologic medicines, and pushed forward initiatives to enhance the healthcare system through innovation and strategic collaborations.
