RUSSIA— The Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Health Department has marked its 30th anniversary, highlighting three decades of expanding access to diagnostic imaging, telemedicine and digital healthcare technologies across Moscow and Russia.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the milestone through his official Max messenger channel, praising the Center’s contribution to the development of healthcare and the professionalism of its staff.
24/7 Support for Medical Facilities
The Center provides round-the-clock support to healthcare facilities across Moscow and analyzes more than 180,000 computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, and X-ray examinations every week.
Through the Center’s digital systems, physicians can remotely access imaging reports and seek expert opinions from colleagues.
This approach enables medical professionals to collaborate more efficiently and supports faster access to specialist expertise.
Since 2020, the Center has also incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into the interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies.
Over the past six years, specialists have tested more than 200 AI services, while 70 services covering 45 clinical areas are now available to radiologists.
The AI tools help specialists identify signs of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other medical conditions.
Nevertheless, radiologists remain responsible for making the final diagnostic decision, with AI serving as a support tool rather than a replacement for clinical judgment.
Training the next generation of specialists
In addition to developing and implementing digital technologies, the Center trains professionals in diagnostic imaging.
Its educational activities include continuing professional development programmes, postgraduate education and residency training.
The Center also places particular emphasis on the technical condition and radiation safety of diagnostic equipment.
Regular monitoring helps maintain the reliability of medical devices while supporting patient safety and the quality of diagnostic services.
Expanding Russia’s digital healthcare infrastructure
The Center’s technologies have increasingly become integrated into Russia’s broader digital healthcare ecosystem.
In 2024, following instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Center developed the federal digital platform “MosMedAI.”
The platform allows physicians in different Russian regions to access advanced AI-based diagnostic technologies without building their own digital infrastructure from the ground up.
More than 2,000 medical organizations across 75 Russian regions have already connected to MosMedAI, extending the reach of AI-supported diagnostic services beyond Moscow.
Congratulating the Center’s staff on the anniversary, Sobyanin thanked them for their professionalism and contribution to healthcare development.
He also wished employees good health, prosperity and continued success in their work.
