The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026.

UAE—Burjeel Holdings’ healthcare technology platform, AiMed Solutions, has partnered with Proximie to develop AI-powered surgical solutions to improve operating room efficiency and clinical decision-making in Abu Dhabi.
The companies formalised the partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026.
The agreement establishes a four-stage co-development programme that builds on the ongoing deployment of Proximie’s surgical intelligence platform at Burjeel Medical City.
Safeer Ahmed, Group Head of Shared Services at Burjeel Holdings, and Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram, Founder and CEO of Proximie, signed the agreement.
Four-stage AI development programme
The partnership combines AiMed Solutions’ expertise in healthcare system development, clinical workflow transformation and AI integration with Proximie’s surgical intelligence technology.
AiMed Solutions will work with Proximie and Burjeel’s clinical teams to develop applications that support surgical coordination, streamline workflows and improve operational performance.
The initiative draws on AiMed’s experience deploying more than two dozen AI applications across clinical and operational functions.
Ahmed said AI delivers practical value when developers align technology with the needs of clinicians and patients.
He added that involving clinical teams throughout development would help produce solutions that address real operating room challenges and can be scaled across healthcare settings.
Hachach-Haram said Proximie’s platform helps surgical teams understand operating room activity, anticipate workflow requirements and determine the next steps.
She welcomed the partnership as an opportunity to develop solutions aligned with Burjeel’s plans for intelligent operating rooms.
The existing implementation at Burjeel Medical City covers 10 operating rooms and includes computer vision, electronic medical record connectivity, real-time surgical intelligence and multi-site functionality.
It supports Burjeel’s ONE OR initiative, which encompasses 45 functional requirements to be addressed through the four-stage programme.
The first stage will give surgical teams access to real-time operating room performance data through shared screens and mobile phones.
The system will track workflow progress, highlight time gains and delays, provide alerts about upcoming tasks and support clinical documentation.
The second stage will introduce agentic AI, workflow monitoring, surgical safety checklists and bed management tools.
The third will extend the technology to endoscopy, cardiac catheterisation laboratories and interventional radiology, while improving patient journey coordination and communication with families.
The fourth will focus on surgical instrument tracking and advanced clinical, operational and financial performance indicators.
Expanding intelligent surgical operations
Proximie’s platform is deployed in more than 700 operating rooms.
It combines data from ambient sensors, medical devices and electronic medical records to monitor activity, identify potential delays and recommend next steps throughout the surgical journey.
The partnership will build on these capabilities to develop applications tailored to Burjeel’s clinical and operational needs.
The initiative also supports Burjeel Holdings’ Burjeel 2.0 transformation strategy, which prioritises faster decision-making, clinical excellence and integrated operations.
The group has expanded its surgical capabilities across robotic and minimally invasive surgery, orthopaedics, cardiovascular interventions, surgical oncology, fetal surgery and multiorgan transplantation.
